The Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in the Field of Business: A Bibliometric Analysis

Öz

The aim of this study is to examine the development trends and underlying knowledge structures of generative artificial intelligence which has gained popularity in recent years within the disciplines of “business“ and “management“ using bibliometric analysis methods. In this context, a search using the keywords “Generative Artificial Intelligence” or “Generative AI” in the “Web of Science” database yielded a total of 516 studies. The data obtained were evaluated using the VOSviewer software co-citation analysis. The research findings reveal that generative artificial intelligence has attracted considerable interest in the field of business and management in recent years. Furthermore, the study found that the author with the highest number of publications was “Campbell, Colin”, authors with the highest citation count was “Dwivedi, Yogesh K.”, the country with the highest number of publications and the most citations was the USA, and that the UK and China followed the USA in terms of the number of publications. A significant finding of the study is that, alongside “generative artificial intelligence”, topics directly related to artificial intelligence such as “large language models” and “machine learning”, as well as the topic of “ethics”, feature among the most frequently studied subjects. These findings provide a general framework regarding the current literature and serve as a guide for future research.
