The Readiness Levels of Teacher Candidates for Blended Learning

Abstract

Blended Learning is an approach where traditional face-to-face teaching methods are integrated with online technologies for educational purposes. This approach provides students with a student-centered environment where they can manage their own learning processes and is becoming increasingly popular worldwide. The main aim of this study is to determine the readiness levels of teacher candidates for blended learning. In line with the objectives of the research, a descriptive survey model was preferred. The sample group of the study consisted of 522 teacher candidates in the 2023-2024 academic year at Kastamonu Faculty of Education. The teacher candidates were administered the ‘Blended Learning Readiness Scale.’ The data obtained in the study were analyzed using the SPSS 21 package program. T-test, ANOVA, frequency, and percentage were used in the analysis of the data. In the study, it was determined that pre-service teachers’ readiness levels for blended learning differed according to gender. It was observed that female pre-service teachers had higher levels of readiness for blended learning than male pre-service teachers.
