Öz
Hidrosefali, beyin omurilik sıvısında artış ile seyreden, serebral ventriküllerde genişlemeye ve serebral kortekste incelmeye neden olan artmış intrakraniyal basınç ile karakterize yaygın bir nöroşirurjikal hastalıktır. Hidrosefalinin yönetiminde en sık kullanılan tedavi yöntemi ventriküloperitoneal şanttır. Şant işlemi sonrası daha çok mekanik obstrüksiyonlar ve enfeksiyonlar görülmektedir. Torasik migrasyon oldukça nadir görülür fakat görüldüğü zaman ivedilikle müdahale edilmesi gereken bir tablodur.

Öz
Hydrocephalus is a common neurosurgical pathology characterized by increased production of cerebrospinal fluid, causing high intracranial pressure, which results with dilatation of cerebral ventricles and thinned cerebral cortex. The most common treatment of hydrocephalus is ventricoloperitoneal shunt. Mechanic obstruction and infection are seen frequently after shunt procedures. Thoracic migration of distal shunt catheter is rare complication, but when present it must be carried out immediately.
