Hemşirelikte Güncel Rol, Yetkinlik ve Yeterliklerin Belirlenmesi: Karma Yöntem Araştırması

Öz

Amaç: İnsan var oldukça devam edecek olan hemşirelik mesleği için değişim ve gelişim kaçınılmaz ve gereklidir. Gelecekteki sağlık sistemi içinde yeni mezun bir hemşirenin rollerinin, yetkinliklerinin ve yeterliklerinin neler olması gerektiğinin saptanması, bu roller, yetkinlikler ve yeterlikler arasındaki ilişkinin ortaya konulması mesleğin geleceği ve eğitim kurumlarının kendini yenileyebilmesi açısından önemlidir. Bu çalışmada bir hemşirelik öğrencisinin lisans eğitimi sonunda sahip olması beklenen rolleri, yetkinlikleri ve yeterliklerini ulusal olarak belirlemek ve hemşirelik eğitim programlarına bir temel oluşturmak amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın ulusal çapta gerçekleştirilmesi, hemşirelik eğitim programlarının geliştirilmesi ve değerlendirilmesine rehber niteliği taşıması ve akreditasyon açısından güvenilir temellere dayanan bir veri kaynağı olması araştırmanın özgün ve önemli özellikleridir. Yöntem: Çalışmada karma araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sırası ile; bireysel görüşmeler, çalıştay, delphi çalışması ve uzman paneli olmak üzere dört aşamada tamamlanmıştır. Bireysel görüşmeler 11, çalıştay 111 katılımcı ile; Delphi çalışması Türkiye’deki 15 hemşirelik fakültesinde görev yapan 82 öğretim üyesi, uzman paneli ise alanında uzman yedi öğretim üyesi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Her bir aşamanın bulgusu bir sonraki aşama için veri oluşturmuştur. Araştırma sonuçları dört aşamalı bir süzgeçten geçirilerek elde edilmiştir. Bulgular: Yeni mezun bir hemşirenin lisans eğitimi sonunda kazanması beklenen beş hemşirelik rolü, dokuz hemşirelik yetkinliği ve 40 hemşirelik yeterliği belirlenmiş, hemşirelik rolleri, yeterlikleri ve yetkinlikleri gruplandırılarak aralarındaki bağlantı ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Sonuç ve Öneriler: Çalışmadan hemşirelik eğitim programlarına temel oluşturacak güncel bir sonuç elde edilmiş ve ilgili kurum ve kuruluşların kullanabileceği bir ürün ortaya konulmuştur. Bunun yanında bu üç kavramın alana özgü tanımları güncellenmiştir. Çalışma sonuçlarının hemşirelik eğitimcileri tarafından öncelikle ele alınması ve çalışmanın belirli aralıklarla güncellenmesi önerilmektedir.

Determining Current Roles, Proficiencies and Competencies in Nursing: A Mixed Method Research

Öz

Objective: Change and development are inevitable and necessary for the nursing profession, which will continue as long as human beings exist in a rapidly changing world. Determining what the role, competencies and proficiencies of a newly graduated nurse should be in the health system of the future and revealing the connection between these roles, competencies and proficiencies is important for the future of the profession and the self-renewal of educational institutions. The aim of this study is to determine the roles, proficiencies and competencies that a nurse is expected to gain at the end of the education process and to create an up-to-date basis for nursing education programs. The unique and important features of the study are that it was conducted on a national scale, that it provides guidance for the development and evaluation of nursing education programs, and that it is a data source based on reliable foundations in terms of accreditation. Method: Mixed research method was used in the study. The study was completed in four stages: Individual Interviews, Workshop, Delphi Study and Expert Panel. Individual interviews were conducted with 11 participants, the workshop with 111 participants, the Delphi study with 82 faculty members working in 15 nursing faculties in Türkiye, and the expert panel with seven faculty members who are experts in their fields. The findings of each stage constituted data for the next stage and the research results were obtained through a four-stage filter. Results: As a result of the research, five nursing roles, nine nursing proficiencies and 40 nursing competencies expected to be acquired by a new graduate nurse were identified. In addition, nursing roles, proficiencies and competencies were grouped by associating them. Conclusion and Recommendations: The study produced a result that will form the basis for nursing education programs and a product that can be used by relevant institutions and organizations at national and international level. Along with this, the field-specific definitions of these three concepts have been updated. It is recommended that the results of the study should be prioritized by nursing educators and the study should be updated periodically.
