Dr. Erten graduated from Boğaziçi University’s Civil Engineering Department. She completed her graduate studies at Rutgers University in USA in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She worked as a research fellow at Princeton University. While working as a licenced Civil Engineer for AECOM and Lend Lease in Los Angeles, she lectured at USC. She later completed the executive program at Harvard University’s Public School of Health on Leadership in Sustainability. Upon her return from USA she worked as the director of Clinton Climate Initative for Clinton Foundation. Dr. Erten has been lecturing on sustainability at several universities including İTÜ, Boğaziçi, Özyeğin, Koç, Sabancı and Medipol Universities. She is currenlty the Director of Climate Change Research Center. Erten is the co-founder of Turkish Green Building Council and served on the as the Board President and Vice President. She was an elected elected Board member of USGBC during 2014-2016. She currently serves on the LEED International Committee, and advisory committee of WGBC. She also served on sustainable buildings policy committee of Europian Regional Network. Dr. Erten has been conducting research, providing expert advice, and developing best practice recommendations through EDGE, BREEAM, LEED, DGNB,WELL and, BREEAM Communities and LEED ND certifications. She is a P.E. (Civil), ASCE Fellow, LEED AP BD+C, LEED and WELL Faculty, BREEAM Fellow, BREEAM AP, BREEAM Communities and In-Use assessor and a DGNB Auditor. She received the President’s Award given by World Green Building Council (WGBC) for her outstanding contributions to the global sustainability movement and the recipient of 2017 WSLA (Women in Sustainability Leadership Award). She is a member of Cradle to Cradle Innovation Institute (EPEA), Turkish GBC, USGBC, ASCE, ULI-Europe and ASHRAE.
