Esra Karaol started her music education in viola department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory. Beside the school orchestra, she worked also in different orchestras including the Music Teachers’ Chamber Orchestra of the Ministry of Education and Cemal Resit Rey Symphony Orchestra. After completing her undergraduate degree in the composition department of the same school, she took her graduate degree on music theory in the Istanbul Technical University Center For Advanced Studies in Music ( MIAM). Later on, she taught music theory classes as a faculty member at the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory. Meanwhile, she finalised her postgraduate studies in the musicology and music theory program of the same university. She gave piano and music theory classes in different private schools and music centers. She took part in workshops and concerts with different groups after her studies on Latin and Turkish percussion instruments. She participated in the seminars of the Orff-Schulwerk Education and Counselling Center. Starting from June 2013, she became part of Istanbul University State Conservatory Musicology Department as a faculty member. Currently, she works as the Head of the General Musicology Department in the same university.
