I am a computational geographer with expertise in Remote Sensing, GIS, ecosystem service modeling and geo-environmental science. I have a rich experience in the academic and enjoy rendering community service in various consultancy capacities within my field of endeavour. Hence, I am always ready to face new challenges and get involved in skill development opportunities in forward-thinking environments.
I am very much eager to advance both knowledge and application in the use of GIScience and technology for day-to-day purposes. I am currently rounding up my PhD with the topic "Modeling the Impact of Climate Change on Selected Ecosystem Services of the Sokoto-Rima Basin". The study is an integration of computations in social and physical sciences of ecosystem service with climate change at the heart of the study.
I am very comfortable working with the series of commonly used GIS software packages such as ArcGIS (3.1 to 10.8), QGIS series, Idrisi (TerrSet) series from (Kilimanjaro to Selva). I am also quite versed with other spatial modeling software packages such as InVEST, CAESAR, SWAT, Surfer, and Global Mapper. I have conducted some studies with agent-based modeling software packages such as Netlogo, GeoSOS FLUS and Envision. In terms of spatial database management packages, I have some experience with OracleSpatial. I work well with emerging and advancing scripting language such as python and R for various purposes including but not limited to spatial statistical analysis and mapping. For fieldwork, I have had years working with Trimble Juno GPS loaded with ArcPad 7 series, eTrex Mobile GPS receiver and mobile GPS on Android. These were connected via internet with KoboToolbox and Open Data Kit open-source packages.
My free time is for team sports, documentaries, and photography.
