Bio
Received her B.S. and B.A. in Sociology and Philosophy from Middle East Technical University (METU) (2007-2013). Completed her M.S. in Sociology on “F-type Prisons in Turkey” from METU. Bekiroğlu (she/her) earned a Ph.D. entitled “Conceptualizing Urbicide: Space, Memory, War, and Necropolitics” from METU in 2023. Currently works as a Research Assistant in the Sociology Department at İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University. Her research concerns theories of urban sociology, incarceration, and biopolitics. Her studies are situated at the intersection of politics, philosophy, and sociology.
