The journal of Social Sciences Institute of Ataturk University, published four times a year with the 1304-4990 ISSN number, is an internationally refereed and scientific official journal. In our journal, scientific research papers, carried out in different disciplines of social sciences, are published. The manuscripts that are sent to the Journal must be original, unpublished and cannot be submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. The format of the manuscripts should be designed in accordance with the writing and publication guidelines approved by the Executive Board of the Institute. The manuscripts are subjected to pre-assessment by the editorial board taking publication principles into consideration. The manuscripts which are scanned by the editorial board are sent to two blind referees for evaluation in terms of form and content. The manuscripts that are considered, at least by two referees, issuable are put in line for publication. The manuscripts which may require corrections by the referees are sent back to the authors for the necessary adjustments. It is the author’s responsibility to transmit the reedited manuscript to the journal within the specified time. The reedited manuscript is re-evaluated by the referees if necessary. The editorial board makes the last decision for the publication of the manuscript. The editorial board has the right to make alterations to some vocabulary. The manuscripts, published or unpublished in the Journal, are not sent back to the authors. All responsibilities related to dictation, legal and scientific ethics belong to the authors of the manuscripts. All rights over the published manuscripts reserved to the Journal, and no citation can be made without the reference of the Journal.

All articles published in Atatürk University Journal of Social Sciences (original research article, case report, review) go through a rigorous evaluation process first by the Journal's editor and then by at least 2 referees. The aim of this process is to increase the originality and scientific quality of the articles, as well as to eliminate low quality articles and plagiarism.
Article Publishing Process
1. Original research article, case report and review articles written by the author are submitted to the journal with the "Article Control Form".
2. Articles submitted to the journal are subjected to preliminary evaluation by the journal editor (journal writing rules, scientificity and plagiarism). At this stage, the article may be rejected by the editorial office, a revision may be requested, or a decision to be subjected to referee evaluation.
3. The articles that are decided to be evaluated by the referee are submitted to at least 2 referee evaluation on the subject of the article.
4. Article authors do not know the referees, and the referees do not know the authors.
5. Referees evaluate the articles in areas such as journal writing rules, scientific quality, contribution to national / universal science and practice.
6. The article is returned to the Editor with a recommendation by the referee regarding the rejection, revision or acceptance of the article.
7. Editor makes a decision in line with the referee suggestions to be notified to the author.
8. The article is sent back to the author along with the referee reports.
9. The editor makes the necessary checks after obtaining the final revised version of the article by the author and places the article in print order by submitting an acceptance letter.
1. Publication and authorship
a) Sources used in the article; The first reference used in the text should be numbered 1. It should also be presented with this numbering in the references section of the article.
b) If there are institutions or organizations that provide support to the research that is the subject of the article, an asterisk should be placed at the end of the article title as a superscript, and the necessary explanation should be made in the footnote part of the first page of the article.
c) Articles submitted to the journal for publication are checked with a suitable program in terms of similarity with articles published in different journals and various internet resources. Articles showing 30% or more similarity as a result of the control are rejected.
d) Articles that are determined to use fake data in any way will be rejected.
e) Articles previously published in another journal are not evaluated.
2. Authors' Responsibilities
a) Authors are deemed to have accepted that the articles they submit are subjected to a detailed evaluation process.
b) Authors whose names are included in the article are obliged to inform the editor of their contribution to the article.
c) Authors should prepare and submit their articles in accordance with the journal rules.
d) Authors whose names are included in any article sent to the journal for publication are deemed to have declared that all data in the article are true and original.
e) Authors cannot simultaneously send their articles to other journals for publication.
f) Authors are obliged to make all kinds of corrections requested by the referees and the editorship regarding their articles that have been subjected to peer review.
g) Authors are obliged to comply with the copyright conditions regarding the material obtained or used from other sources and to sign the contract expressing the transfer of the copyright to the Journal.
h) Any responsibility arising from the articles in the journal belongs to the author (s).
3. Responsibilities of Referees
a) Referees involved in article evaluation should evaluate objectively and impartially.
b) The referees who have any conflict of interest with the authors of the article or the institutions and organizations supporting the article should not evaluate the article by reporting the situation to the editor.
c) Referees cannot share the data of articles sent to them for evaluation with anyone.
d) Referees who are convinced that the article can be published by requesting correction, have the right to review the article after necessary corrections have been made.
4. Editorial Board Responsibilities
a) The preliminary evaluations of the articles are made by the Editorial Board.
b) Articles are sent to at least two referees by the Editorial Board for evaluation. The Editorial Board decides on the acceptance, rejection or modification of the articles depending on the advisor reports.
c) Editorial Board cannot use the data of unpublished articles for personal works in any way and cannot share this data in any way.
d) When the article evaluation process is completed, the editor transmits the decision to the responsible author.
e) The editor should not be affected by the conflict of interest with the person or persons whose name is in the article while deciding whether to accept or reject an article.
5. Responsibilities of the Advisory Board
a) Members of the Advisory Board keep the data of the articles sent to them for evaluation confidential and cannot share it in any way.
b) If the consultants determine that the information in the article they evaluate is similar to the information in another published article, they should immediately report the situation to the Journal Editor.
c) Consultants should evaluate the articles sent to them objectively and express their opinions about the article in a clear and understandable language.
d) When a consultant thinks that it would not be appropriate for the article sent to him for evaluation, he / she should notify the Editor as soon as possible.
6. Publication Ethics Issues
a) Academic record integrity should be established and maintained.
b) When necessary, sufficient correction, explanation or apology should be published.
