The articles are evaluated by double-blind review, in which identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Neither the authors know the reviewers nor the reviewers know the authors in this process. Double-blind review stages are as follows:Preliminary Review and Preliminary Evaluation ProcessThe editors in preliminary review evaluate the articles sent to Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences. In this step, articles that do not comply with the aims, scope and publication policies of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences, do not comply with the language and expression rules, have errors in terms of method, are not original, and have a high similarity rate are rejected.Similarity-Authenticity CheckThe publication ethics of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences obliges the plagiarism check to determine the similarity-authenticity of the applied article and each article that is in the publication stage. Similarity and plagiarism control is done by the journal staff with the iThenticate program, and the report is received. The authors may also be asked to correct the errors detected in the article by the Editorial Board, but the articles with a similarity rate of more than 10% are rejected and the author(s) are informed. The similarity rate report is stored.Preliminary EvaluationFor the preliminary evaluation, appropriate articles are sent to the field editor related to the subject of the article. The articles sent to the field editor are examined in terms of titles, introduction, method, result, discussion-conclusion, implications, originality and authenticity, and the aim, scope and publishing policies of the journal. The field editor notifies the journal editor about the review result with a report. The journal editor rejects the articles that are not suitable as the result of the review report. For the articles that the field editor finds suitable for the journal, reviewers’ suggestions should also be forwarded to the journal editor with the review report.Peer Review ProcessThe reviewer suggestions of the field editor are evaluated by the journal editors and the article is forwarded to three reviewers. The Editorial Board of the journal cares not to assign reviewers from the same institution with the authors; not to assign among the people which the authors conflict with or the people they have relationships based on mutual interests; and not to assign authors’ thesis advisors or jury members. More than one article is not sent to the same reviewer for evaluation in an issue of the journal.Reviewers examine the articles based on its literature review, originality, method, compliance with ethical principles, consistent presentation of results, compliance of references (citations) with principles and consistency of reference list.The reviewers are given one month for the evaluation process, and the time can be extended, if necessary, in line with the reviewer’s request. After the reviewers evaluate the article, they must fill in the "Research Article Evaluation Form" for the research articles and the "Review Article Evaluation Form" for the review articles, which is sent along with the article. After reviewers complete their evaluation of articles, they upload the Article Evaluation Form to the journal system. Reviewers should write their decision (acceptance, correction, rejection) regarding articles in detail on the relevant part of the Article Evaluation Form. In addition, reviewers should upload the articles on which they have suggested corrections to the journal system.In line with the suggestions from the reviewers and/or editors, the authors should prepare an "Article Revision Report" within three weeks. In this report, the authors state what they did or did not do about the suggested corrections in the form of a table, and then upload them to the electronic submission system with the revised article. The revised article is sent to the reviewers who want to see the corrections. More than one revision may be requested from the authors by the reviewers or editors. The authors are expected to make these corrections.Evaluation Result and Editorial Board DecisionThe journal editor evaluates reports from the reviewers and invites the Editorial Board to a meeting to make the decision regarding the articles. The Editorial Board makes its final decision by discussing the articles considering the reports of the field editor and the reviewers. The editor informs the Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences Administrative Board in writing about the articles that are decided to be published.The page arrangement (layout) of the articles that are decided to be published is done by the members of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences. Thus, it is ensured that the articles to be published are uniform and consistent with each other in terms of format.Articles are also reviewed by language editors (Turkish, English), and if necessary, corrections are requested from authors. After the corrections, the articles that are in the publishing stage are checked for similarity and plagiarism for the last time. The article is generally reviewed once again and authors’ final approval is obtained to publish.It is aimed to make the final decision on the reviewed articles within 6 months.Right of Objection to the EvaluationAuthors have the right to object to the decisions about their articles that the Editorial Board of the journal makes. Authors may send their objection reasons with proofs to ebfd@ankara.edu.tr by mail. The Editorial Board provides an answer to the authors about their objections after discussing the case. If the objection is justified, the Editorial Board restarts the evaluation with new reviewers.Citation and Reference CheckAccording to the publication ethics of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences, it is obligatory to give correct and complete references to the articles. This control is made first by the reviewer during the evaluation, and then by the editors according to the results of the similarity-plagiarism (iThenticate) report.In the articles sent to Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences, citation and reference check is done as follows:• The reference list should conform to the format in APA Edition 7.• It is checked whether the in-text citations are given completely and correctly in the reference list. Citations in the text of each source in the reference list are corrected if necessary.• In-text citations are checked and the missing or incorrect ones are corrected.• The principles of citing references in Turkish for articles in Turkish and in English for articles in English are taken as the basis.Early View and Publication of the ArticleIt is obligatory to give the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) number to the articles whose page layout is done in Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences, first in the "Early View" and then in the relevant issue of the electronic journal. The Digital Object Identification (DOI) is a unique number for each article published electronically, allowing that article to be identified and accessed. In order to obtain a Digital Object Identification (DOI) number, a process is initiated by the editor in the electronic page of the journal. After the article type (research-review), Digital Object Identification (DOI) number, application, acceptance and early view dates entered and “EARLY VIEW” are written diagonally on each page of the article, this article is published in electronic form in full text. Minor edits can be made, if necessary, when publishing early view articles in the journal. Early view articles are published in the volume and number determined by the Editorial Board, by removing the "EARLY VIEW" watermark.After the electronic version of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences is published, a limited number printed journal containing the same articles is published in the same month.Withdrawal of a ManuscriptThe Editorial Board of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences makes great efforts to publish original scientific research articles within the scope of publication policies. In case of withdrawal of an article published in or just sent to the journal, the Editorial Board and the author(s) are required to fulfill the following responsibilities.EditorsWhen there is a suspicion of plagiarism or violation of copyright and ethical principles in an article in the evaluation process, early view or published, the Editorial Board of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences is obliged to initiate an investigation immediately.If the Editorial Board determines that an article under evaluation violates ethical principles, is plagiarized or violates copyrights, the article is withdrawn. The decision of the Editorial Board including the justifications for the article, is notified to the author(s) and the Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences Board of Directors.In case the Editorial Board determines that an article in early view or published in an electronic journal violates ethical principles, plagiarizes and copyrights are not respected, the author(s), the author(s) institutions are notified immediately in writing including the evidence. If the article is from a thesis, then the relevant Institute is also notified.When the Editorial Board receives a request from an author to withdraw an article in the evaluation process, the examination is completed in a short time and a written response is given to the author(s).Author(s)The author(s) are obliged to cooperate with the editor to withdraw the article when they notice an error in the review and early view or published in the electronic journal.The author(s) cannot send the article to another journal unless the request for withdrawal of a submitted article is approved by the Editorial Board.The author(s) who wants to request the withdrawal of an article in the evaluation process, fills in the "Article Withdrawal Form", signs it, scans it and forwards it to the Editorial Board via ebdfd@ankara.edu.tr. The Editorial Board examines the withdrawal request in a short time and notifies the author(s) of its decision.Privacy StatementPersonal information used in article applications and correspondence to Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences is not used for any purpose other than the scientific purposes of the journal, and is not shared with third parties.Reviewers have to give assurance that they will not share the process and any documents related to the articles they evaluate.The names of the reviewers of the articles published in an issue of the journal and the articles that were not accepted in the publication process are given collectively in the journal in which the articles were published.
