In the articles to be sent to Beykent University Journal of Science and Engineering Sciences, the authors must comply with the specified writing principles and rules. Articles that are not prepared in accordance with these principles and rules may not be included in the evaluation process or may be excluded from evaluation at any stage of this process.
In the article submission process, the "Copyright Agreement" and the "Title Page" file, which will contain information about the work and authors, should be uploaded to the system separately from the article file.
Writing rules
MS Office Word template is available for all article types and authors are recommended to use MS Office Word template when preparing articles for submission. The total length of the article should not exceed 25 pages. The article must be uploaded as an MS Office Word file (MS DOC, MS DOCX). Files uploaded in different formats will not be considered.
In general, the order of the chapters in the article should be as follows.
Title – Author(s) – Author Information – Keywords – Abstract –– Main Text [Including Figures and Tables] – Acknowledgments – Bibliography
Title: Calibri (14 pt, Bold font) should be used and all letters should be capitalized (except words that must be lowercase, such as Latin names for microorganisms, plant and animal species). Line spacing should be 1 pt and before and after paragraph spacing should be 6 pt. The title should not exceed 25 words in total.
Author(s): Author's names should be written just below the article title, right justified. Calibri (11 pt, Normal font) should be used. Superscript Arabic numerals immediately after the surname should be used to distinguish between authors' affiliations. Line spacing should be 1.5 pt. Before and after the paragraph spacing should be 0 pt.
Author Affiliation: The current affiliation of all authors should be given at the bottom of the first page. Author information should include "Institution Name, Faculty/Vocational School, Department, E-mail, ORCID" information. Calibri (9 pt, Normal font) should be used. Line spacing should be 1 pt, before and after paragraph spacing should be 0 pt. An e-mail address must be provided for the corresponding author.
Keywords: The number of keywords should be at least 3 and at most 5. Calibri (9 pt, Normal font) should be used. Line spacing should be 1 pt. Before and after the paragraph spacing should be 0 pt.
Abstract: Abstract should be prepared with a maximum of 300 words. Calibri (9 pt, Normal font) should be used. Abstract title should be bold. In Abstract text, before and after paragraph spacing should be 0 pt and line spacing should be 1 pt. Indent should not be used at the beginning of the paragraph and the text should be written as a single paragraph. The Abstract should be written in a way that expresses the purpose, method, findings, limitations and original value of the research.
Main Text: Main text texts should be written using Calibri (12 pt, Normal font) and justified. Line spacing should be 1.5 pt and before and after paragraph spacing 6 pt. Greek letters and mathematical characters should be added to the text as symbols when necessary. Equations should be labeled with consecutive numbers and cited in the text (Ex: Equation (1)). Equations should be given in an editable format, not added to the text as images.
Top, bottom and left and right margins should be set to 2.5 cm. All pages, including references, should be numbered consecutively.
The main text should consist of Introduction, Materials & Methods (if necessary) and Conclusion. All primary titles should be written using Calibri (12 pt, Bold font) in all capital letters. Line spacing should be 1.5 pt, 18 pt before paragraph spacing and 12 pt after. Secondary headings should be written with the first letter of each word capitalized using (12 pt, Bold font). Line spacing should be 1.5 pt, 12 pt before paragraph spacing and 6 pt after. Tertiary headings should be written using Calibri (12 pt, Bold font) with only the first letter capitalized. Line spacing should be 1.5 pt, before and after paragraph spacing 6 pt.
Tables and figures should be used where necessary in the main text.
Along with the tables, a table legend should be given above the table. Tables with only one or two columns and columns with only one or two entries should be avoided. Table description should be written using Calibri (11 pt, Normal font) and centered. Line spacing should be 1 pt, 12 pt before paragraph spacing and 6 pt after. Superscript Latin letters should be used for numbering footnotes in tables. Footnotes should be written in Calibri (8 pt, Normal font). Line spacing should be 1 pt, before and after paragraph spacing should be 0 pt. All tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals according to the order referenced in the text (Ex: Table 1, Table 2, etc.). When referring to tables in the text, the word "Table" should be used without abbreviation.
The figures and diagrams used in the article should have an explanatory title, and the figüre/diagram legends should be placed below the figüre/diagram. All figures and diagrams should be numbered in the text and Arabic numerals should be used (Ex: Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.). Figure and diagram legends should be written using Calibri (11 pt, Normal font) and centered. Line spacing should be 1 pt, 6 pt before paragraph spacing and 12 pt after. When referring to figures, the entire word "Figure" should be used throughout the article.
Acknowledgements: All sources of funding for the reported work should be cited under Acknowledgements, including grant numbers and names of funding agencies. Contributions by anyone who do not meet the authorship criteria should be listed in the Acknowledgements section with the contributor's permission. The title “ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS” should be written using Calibri (12 pt, Bold font). Line spacing should be 1 point, 18 pt before paragraph spacing and 12 pt after.
References: The references used in the article should be listed under the References section. References that are not cited in the main text should not be included in the References. The references used should be listed using Arabic numerals according to the order of citation in the text, regardless of quality (thesis, book, article, report, etc.). References should be written in APA 7 style. It is recommended to use softwares like Mendeley, EndNote or Zotero when editing the references. The “REFERENCES” title should be written using Calibri (12 pt, Bold font). Line spacing should be 1 pt, 18 pt before paragraph spacing and 12 pt after.
Publication Ethics
Beykent University Journal of Science and Engineering Sciences is based on the principles of producing, developing, evaluating and sharing the processes of interdisciplinary studies, especially in the field of engineering and basic sciences, in an impartial way with the scientific method. It is very important that the work of all stakeholders, namely authors, editors, referees, publishers and readers, who produce a scientific study, comply with scientific ethical principles.
When situations such as manipulating, distorting and using fabricated data used in the articles are detected, this situation will be reported to the institution where the article author works, and the article will be rejected. The use of data that does not comply with ethical rules is the responsibility of the authors, and the detected deficiencies will be reported to the author's institution and the article will be rejected. For peer-reviewed studies that support scientific methods, ethical responsibilities are expected by all stakeholders within the scope of publication ethics of Beykent University Journal of Science and Engineering Sciences.
The publication and ethical rules of the studies submitted to the Beykent University Journal of Science and Engineering Sciences were arranged in line with the guidelines and policies published in the open access COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).
Every article submitted to the Beykent University Journal of Science and Engineering Sciences and even after its publication, the Editorial Board ensures that the journal policies such as publication, blind refereeing, evaluation process, and ethical principles are determined and implemented.

Articles submitted to Beykent University Journal of Science and Engineering should not contain plagiarism and should be original. The author(s) who submit a study to the Beykent University Journal of Science and Engineering are expected to comply with the ethical responsibilities stated below:
Plagiarism and Unethical Behaviors
All of the articles sent to Beykent University Journal of Science and Engineering Sciences are checked using the iThenticate plagiarism detection software, and in line with the similarity report determined by the software, the editorial board decides to send the article for peer review or directly reject it. Except for the highest bibliography accepted by the journal, the similarity rate is 15%. Articles exceeding this rate are examined in detail. If deemed necessary, it is sent back to the authors for revision or correction. If plagiarism is detected in the article, its publication is rejected.
Important Note: Non-university researchers can also apply to the Ethics Committees in their regions for their research.
Within the scope of Beykent University Journal of Science and Engineering Sciences, no fee is charged from the authors at any stage of the article evaluation process.
