BÜST Başkent University International Journal of Art, Design and Architecture adopts the principles of transparency, impartiality, scientific integrity, and adherence to ethical standards in its publication processes. The journal conducts its editorial and publication procedures in accordance with the ethical principles and standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the regulations set forth in the Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive.

Peer Review Process

The journal applies a double-blind peer review system. The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. The evaluation process is conducted independently, impartially, and based on scientific criteria. The final decision regarding publication is made by the editor following the assessment of reviewer reports.

Plagiarism and Similarity Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened for similarity using iThenticate or Turnitin plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with a similarity rate of 15% or higher are not considered for evaluation. Plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, salami slicing, and unethical citation practices are not tolerated.

Ethics Committee Approval

Ethics committee approval is mandatory for research involving surveys, interviews, focus groups, experiments, observations, or similar data collection methods. Information regarding the ethics committee approval (institution name, date, and approval number) must be stated in the methodology section of the manuscript and the official approval document must be uploaded during submission.

Studies involving human or animal subjects and research concerning the protection of personal data must comply with relevant legislation. In case reports, informed consent must be obtained.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors declare that their work is original and has not been previously published. A manuscript may not be simultaneously under consideration by another journal. Sources must be cited accurately and completely. Any potential conflicts of interest must be clearly disclosed. Individuals who have not made a significant intellectual contribution to the study must not be listed as authors.

Responsibilities of Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers conduct the evaluation process in accordance with principles of confidentiality, impartiality, and academic integrity. Individuals with conflicts of interest are excluded from the review process. Reviewers accept to evaluate only manuscripts within their field of expertise.

Conflict of Interest

All parties involved in the publication process (authors, editors, and reviewers) are required to declare any potential conflicts of interest.

Open Access Policy

The journal adopts an open access policy. All published articles are freely accessible online without charge. The journal endorses the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
