General Information
Commagene Journal of Biology accepts unpublished original research from all areas of biology as a research article, review articles, case reports, short communications, and etc. Review articles may be accepted after they have been evaluated by the editors in limited numbers in each year.
Articles submitted to the journal will be checked against plagiarism with the help of any plagiarism software and the report should be submitted with the manuscript. Similarity rate should be less than 25% in total and less than 5% from 1 reference. Papers with any type of plagiarism will be rejected automatically, and the authors will lose the right to submit and publish the manuscript to our journal. The editors reserve the right to move manuscripts from one category to another.
Manuscripts may be rejected without peer review if they do not comply with the instructions to authors or are beyond the aim and scope of the journal. All manuscripts should be sent with the authors' contribution form, cover, and copyright agreement letter signed by all the authors. Manuscripts sent without the cover letter are not processed.
AI USE POLICY
USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) TOOLS
The journal permits the use of artificial intelligence (AI)–assisted technologies (including large language models, machine learning tools, and image-generation systems) in manuscript preparation, subject to the following conditions:
1. Disclosure and Transparency
Authors must disclose the use of any AI tools in the preparation of their manuscript. This disclosure must specify the name of the tool, its version (if applicable), and the purpose for which it was used. Disclosures should be included in a dedicated “AI Use Declaration” section and, where relevant, within the Methods section.
2. Authorship and Accountability
AI tools do not meet the criteria for authorship and must not be listed as authors. All authors retain full responsibility and accountability for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the work, including any content generated or assisted by AI tools.
3. Scientific Integrity and Reproducibility
AI tools must not be used to generate, manipulate, or fabricate data, results, or images in a misleading manner. Any use of AI in data analysis, modeling, or image processing must be transparently described in sufficient detail to ensure reproducibility.
4. Originality, Plagiarism, and Copyright Compliance
Authors are responsible for ensuring that AI-assisted content does not constitute plagiarism or infringe upon copyright. All sources must be appropriately cited, and reused materials must comply with licensing requirements.
5. Use in Figures, Images, and Graphical Content
The use of AI tools to generate or modify images, figures, or graphical abstracts must be explicitly disclosed. Such content must not misrepresent original data or experimental findings. The journal reserves the right to request original, unprocessed data or images.
6. Confidentiality and Data Protection
Authors must not upload confidential, proprietary, or unpublished data to AI tools that do not provide adequate guarantees of data privacy and security. This includes manuscripts under peer review.
7. Editorial and Peer Review Oversight
The journal may use tools to assess AI-generated content and reserves the right to request additional information regarding AI use. Manuscripts may be rejected if AI use is not properly disclosed or is deemed inappropriate.
AI USE DECLARATION
Authors are required to include a statement regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation of their manuscript. This statement must appear in a separate section titled “AI Use Declaration” prior to the References.
Authors should use one of the following formats:
No Use of AI
The authors declare that no artificial intelligence (AI) tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript.
Use of AI for Language or Writing Assistance
The authors declare that artificial intelligence (AI) tools were used for language editing and/or writing assistance during the preparation of this manuscript. Specifically, [tool name, e.g., ChatGPT] was used for [brief description of use]. The authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and take full responsibility for its content.
Use of AI in Data Analysis or Research Process
The authors declare that artificial intelligence (AI) tools were used in this study. [Tool name and version] was used for [specific purpose, e.g., data analysis, modeling, or image processing]. Details of this use are provided in the Methods section. The authors take full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the results.
Preparation of the Manuscript
All of the manuscripts, including short notes, must contain at least 4-6 keywords, not included in the title of the Manuscript.

Abstract: All types of manuscripts, including short notes, must contain an abstract of a minimum 50 and a maximum of 250 words and should summarize the essential results and conclusions.
Manuscript, figures, and tables must be submitted as an electronic version only by using the Turkish JournalPark Submission System.
Manuscript text should be processed with MS-Word (OpenOffice / Libre Office can be used, but in this case, the file should be saved as .docx), typed throughout in letter quality with font size 12, Times New Roman, on A4 (210 x 297mm) paper, with margins of at least 25mm on each side. Pages should be numbered consecutively in the bottom, right-hand corner. The article should not exceed 25 pages with all headings, tables, figures, and references.
For all types of papers, the title page must contain: the title of the paper; name(s) of the author(s) and affiliations, ORCID ID, and the name and address of the corresponding author with contact information. The title page has to be uploaded as a separate page to the Dergipark system.
The tables and figures should be given on a separate page after the references.
Turkish and English manuscripts are acceptable. The abstract must be written in both languages. Turkish abstracts will be written by language editors of the journal if needed by foreign authors.
APA style should be followed in the writing of references.
Avoid quoting unpublished reports or theses.
References should be ordered alphabetically at the end of the manuscript.
All illustrations, including photos and charts, must be labeled as Figures and should be cited in the relevant section.
Tables must be sent both in the Word file and as separate Excel files.
Authors may suggest 5 scholars (with their names, affiliations, and e-mail addresses) in their relevant fields, at least two of whom should be from another country than the country of origin of the authors. Editors may not prefer recommended referees.
The authors have to edit the article according to the pre-check file before uploading the article to the system. Articles that are not prepared according to the journal rules are rejected without being evaluated.
Keywords: It must contain 4-6 keywords that are not included in the title of the Manuscript.
Introduction: It must be a concise description of the background, rationale, aims, and specific objectives of the paper.
Materials and methods: This section should provide enough information to permit the repetition of the experiment and/or fieldwork. The technical description of study methods should be given only if such methods are new; otherwise, a short presentation is enough.
The Results: This section must be a concise presentation of the finding of the study. Avoid the presentation of the same information as text, and/or figure, and/or a table.
Discussion: This section should deal with the significance of the results and their relationship to the aims of the paper. Also include how the findings of the paper will change and influence the state of our knowledge about the subject. It may be combined with the results section if necessary.
Short Notes: This type of paper is generally less than three to four manuscript pages. It should be produced as continuous text, preceded by an abstract of no more than 180 words.
