1984 Denizli doğumludur. 2002 yılında Denizli Anadolu İmam-Hatip Lisesinden, 2006'da da Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesinden mezun oldu. 4 ay Tunceli'de Din Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisi öğretmeni olarak çalıştı. Daha sonra MEB Yurtdışı Lisansüstü Eğitim bursunu kazanarak ABD'ye gitti. 1 yıl University of Delaware'de dil eğitimi aldı. 2010 yılında da University of Utah Middle East Center'da master eğitimini tamamladı. Ardından yurda dönüp Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesinde Araştırma Görevlisi olarak göreve başladı. Aynı üniversitenin Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsünde 2022 yılında "Oryantalistlerin Gözüyle Hz. Peygamber'in Müşriklere Karşı Askeri Faaliyetleri" teziyle doktor ünvanını aldı. Halen aynı fakültede İslam Tarihi ve Sanatları Anabilim dalında Dr. Öğr. Üyesi olarak çalışmaktadır.

Latif Tokat (Prof. Dr.) graduated from Selçuk University Faculty of Theology in 1989 and worked as a teacher for a while. He completed his master's degree in Philosophy of Religion at the same university with his thesis titled "The Problem of Freedom in Theistic Existentialism". He completed his doctorate, which he started at Dokuz Eylül University in 1996, in the field of Philosophy of Religion with his thesis titled "Symbolism in Religion". He worked as a research assistant at Karadeniz Technical University and as a faculty member at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. He also served as the Head of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the same university for a period. In 2012, he spent three months in Chicago with a YÖK (Council of Higher Education) scholarship for research titled "Religion in the American Worldview". In 2015, he stayed in London for six weeks for research and study with the support of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. Latif Tokat, who works in the field of Philosophy of Religion, has focused particularly on comparative studies in philosophy and theology both during and after his doctoral studies. He has published books and articles, and presented papers at international and national scientific conferences.
He has conducted research on religious language and religious symbolism. His book, *Existential Theology*, draws attention to the existential dimension of theology. He has published a book on the meaning of existence and life, one of the important philosophical problems of our time. He also conducts research on the relationship between aesthetics and art with God, existence, religion, and metaphysics.
He was born in Bitlis (1969). He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Divinity (1992).
He worked as a specialist in the History Department at Bilkent University from 1993 to 1994.
He completed his Master's degree with his thesis on "Metaphor in Islamic Thought" (1994) in the field of Islamic Philosophy.
He also completed his PhD at Ankara University with his work titled "Knowledge and Freedom in Islamic Moral Philosophy" (2000).
He became an associate professor (2008) and a full professor (2013) at the same university's Faculty of Divinity
He has served as a visiting faculty member in Kyrgyzstan(2001), Romania(2004), Italy(2008) ,and Kazakhstan (2023)
He has published books, book chapters, editorial works, articles conference papers related to his field.
He currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Islamic Philosophy at Ankara University Faculty of Divinity. Additionally, he was a core member of the Science Board at the Atatürk Culture, Language, and History High Council, Atatürk Culture Center.(2018-2024)
1963, he was born in the Refahiye district of Erzincan province, Türkiye.
In 1973, he graduated from Aydıncık Village Primary School; in 1977 from Erzincan Imam Hatip Secondary School; and in 1981 from Erzurum Imam Hatip High School.
In 1987, he graduated from Erciyes University, Faculty of Theology.
In 1988, he was appointed as a Research Assistant to Ankara University Faculty of Theology, Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, Division of History of Islamic Sects.
In 1990, he completed his Master’s degree with a thesis entitled “The Emergence of Murjiʾa and Its Doctrinal Views.”
In 1992, he stayed in the United Kingdom for six months for research in his field. In 1993, he spent one year in Egypt for further academic research.
In 1994, he received his PhD with a dissertation entitled “Murjiʾa and Its Spread in Khurasan and Transoxiana.”
In 1997, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor.
Between 1997 and 1999, he served as Acting Vice Dean at Osh State University Faculty of Theology in Kyrgyzstan and taught courses in his field.
In 2003, he was promoted to the rank of Professor.
Between 2003 and 2009, he served as Education Coordinator at Ankara University Faculty of Theology.
Between 2008 and 2012, he served as Vice Chair of the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences.
In 2012, due to a project entitled “The Perception of Alevism in English-Language Research,” he worked for three and a half months as a Visiting Scholar at Princeton University (USA).
He has published more than 10 books and over 50 articles on Islamic sects and contemporary Islamic movements.
He has translations from English and Arabic.
He serves as a referee and a member of editorial boards for various academic journals.
Between 2003 and 2014, he was a member of the Curriculum Development Commission of the General Directorate of Religious Education.
He is currently a faculty member at Ankara University Faculty of Theology, Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, Division of History of Islamic Sects.
He knows English, Arabic, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, and Uzbek.
He is married and has two children
He completed his bachelor's degree at Uludağ University Faculty of Theology in 1992. He received his master's degree in 1995 and his doctorate in 2001 from the same university's Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Sufism. After teaching for four years at schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, he joined the Faculty of Theology at Karadeniz Technical University as a Research Assistant in 1996. He became an Associate Professor in 2008 and a Professor in 2014. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Gümüşhane University from 2015 to 2018. In 2019, he moved to the Faculty of Theology at Hitit University. He currently holds the same position and conducts his work in Arabic and English.
2025 taririhinde Sinop Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi Temelİslam Bilimleri Arap Dili Anabilim Dalında Doçent oldu.
