The Journal of Diplomacy and Strategy (DSJOURNAL) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes original works in the fields of International Relations, Security, Strategy, and Regional Studies in both Turkish and English languages.

DSJOURNAL aims to enhance the academic perspective and contribute to the Turkish literature of International Relations. It has a primary focus on conceptual and theoretical studies with a Turkish and Turkey-centered approach.

Established in 2020, DSJOURNAL is published biannually in June and December, with two issues per year. The journal features theoretical, empirical, and analytical original research articles, as well as book reviews.

The articles should be formatted according to the "DSJOURNAL Article Template." In order for your work to be considered for evaluation, it must be prepared using the Article Template. The DSJOURNAL Article Template will facilitate the preparation of your work in compliance with our journal's writing guidelines. The creation of headings, word count for the abstract, keywords, formatting of the main text, details of tables and graphs, and the organization of the bibliography should all be done according to the Article Template.

The citations and bibliography of the articles should be created following the "DSJOURNAL Citation Style Guide."

When uploading the article to the DergiPark system, please fill in both the Turkish and English sections for the title, abstract, and keywords. Make sure to capitalize the first letters of the words while filling in the sections. For example, it should be written as "A Terrorism Discourse as a Securitization Practice." It should not be written in all capital letters or in a different format.

If necessary, the last part of the article should include an explanation of the researchers' contribution statement, a "support and acknowledgment statement," and a "conflict of interest statement."

Word Count

The preferred word count for articles is between 3,000 and 8,000 words. The word count only includes the main text; the abstract, extended English summary, bibliography, figure captions, and tables are not included in the word count.

The abstract should not exceed 200 words. It should be written as a single paragraph without any paragraph breaks.

The Reminders and The Other Notes

While uploading the article to the DergiPark system, please ensure that the article text is saved anonymously. The uploaded file should be named as Article Title.docx, with each word starting with a capital letter.

Starting from 2023, DSJOURNAL has decided to publish research articles with an Extended Summary. For articles written in Turkish, the Extended Summary should be in English. For articles written in English, an Extended Summary is not required. The Extended Summary should follow the Abstract section.

When uploading the article, the author(s) should make a reviewer suggestion and upload the article commitment ("makale taahhütnamesi") form (accessible in the 3rd stage of the article submission process) to the system.

Citations should be provided following the rules of The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition. To minimize potential issues with citation, it is recommended to use reference management software such as "Mendeley."

Online sources should include a DOI or URL.

Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) principles of research and publication ethics must be adhered to for submissions to DSJOURNAL. Therefore, attention should be paid to avoiding plagiarism, data fabrication, distortion, redundant publication, ghost authorship, and omitting the names of non-contributing authors in the article preparation process. If any of these issues are identified, the respective article will be rejected during the editor's review.

Articles submitted for publication in the journal should be prepared in accordance with the rules of research and publication ethics. For studies requiring ethical committee approval, the approval should be obtained and documented in the article. In studies requiring ethical committee approval, information regarding the approval (committee name, date, and number) should be included in the methodology section and also on the first/last page of the article. Articles that require ethical committee approval but fail to submit the document will not be considered for evaluation and will be rejected. Additionally, permission should be obtained from the owners for the use of scales used in data collection, and this should be stated in the article.

DSJOURNAL is an open-access, free, peer-reviewed scientific journal available on all platforms. All information can be used with proper citation, and no fees are charged to authors or post-publication readers at any stage of the publication process.

The entirety or a part of any work cannot be published (plagiarized) without permission or without proper citation.

Publication Policy

DSJOURNAL is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes original studies in the fields of International Relations, Security, Strategy, and Regional Studies in Turkish and English languages. Article submissions that do not comply with the publication policy of DSJOURNAL will not be accepted.

Submitted articles should not have been previously published or currently under review elsewhere.

The opinions expressed in the published works are the responsibility of the authors.

Articles should be written in Turkish or English. The scientific and linguistic responsibility of the published works lies with the author/authors.

During the initial screening phase, articles are examined for compliance with formatting requirements and content. Articles that contribute to the literature in terms of scientific content will be included in the peer-review process by the editorial board and/or the publication committee.

After scanning with plagiarism detection software, articles are sent to at least two reviewers. Articles with a similarity index of over 20% are returned.

When uploading the article to the journal system, the author(s) should make a reviewer suggestion and upload the article undertaking form (accessible in the 3rd stage of the submission process).

Articles with positive reviews from the reviewers are included in the publication process. If one positive and one negative report are received from the reviewers, the study is sent to a third reviewer. The assignment of reviewers is done by the editorial board and/or the publication committee.

Based on the reports received from the reviewers, a decision is made regarding the publication, revision, or rejection of the article, and this decision is communicated to the author(s) through the system. The author(s) are generally responsible for making the changes requested by the reviewers. However, it is also important for them to express their own views against the reviewers' opinions. This is expected to create a research and learning synergy among the editor, author, and reviewer through scientific interaction.

The author(s) can make the revisions to the article in color. This facilitates the editor’s and reviewer’s second review and speeds up the manuscript acceptance process. Using the REFEREE'S ASSESSMENTS-AUTHOR'S RESPONSES file by the author(s) during the revision phase will facilitate the re-examination of the article by the referees and the editor, thus speeding up the decision process.

The editor determines when and in which issue the articles whose evaluation process is completed will be published. Acceptance emails are sent to the author(s) via DergiPark.

Articles whose evaluation process is completed can be published in any issue at the discretion of the editor.

If the study has received support from any institution or if it has been derived from a thesis, this should be indicated.

If any deficiencies are identified in the later stages, the article will be returned to the author(s) regardless of the stage it is in.

No fees are requested from the submitted articles for evaluation and publication processes in our journal.
