She graduated from Uludağ University Necatibey Faculty of Education, Department of Geography Teaching in 1995. She completed her master's degree in Geography at Istanbul University Social Sciences Institute in 1998 and her doctorate in 2003. Between 1995 and 2000, she worked as a geography teacher in Istanbul. Her academic career began in 2000 as a research assistant in the Social Studies Education Department of the Primary Education Division at Anadolu University Faculty of Education, where she continues as a Professor. She received the title of Associate Professor of Geography Education from the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Interuniversity Board in 2011 and Associate Professor of Social Studies Education in 2018. She conducts scientific research in the fields of geography education, social studies education, and environmental education.
