Aims

The Aegean Geographical Journal aims to support the production of original scientific knowledge in the theoretical, methodological, and applied fields of geography and to publish high-quality research that examines spatial processes related to the natural and human environment, human–environment interactions, and contemporary geographical issues through scientific approaches.

The journal encourages studies that go beyond merely presenting existing knowledge and are based on clearly defined research problems, methodologically sound, supported by scientific evidence, and capable of making an original contribution to the discipline of geography. Accordingly, the journal welcomes research that develops theoretical approaches, proposes new methods and analytical techniques, explains geographical processes at different spatial scales, and integrates interdisciplinary perspectives within a geographical framework.

The Aegean Geographical Journal embraces quality, originality, ethical principles, and methodological rigor as its fundamental principles of scholarly publishing and seeks to provide a high-quality platform for scholarly communication for research that contributes to the advancement of geography at both national and international levels.

Scope

The Aegean Geographical Journal publishes original scientific research in the theoretical, methodological, and applied fields of geography. The journal considers studies that examine, from a geographical perspective and at different spatial scales, processes related to the natural and human environment, their spatial patterns, and their interactions.

The journal's scope includes research on topics within the field of geography, such as physical geography, human and economic geography, regional geography, spatial analysis, natural environmental processes and changes, human–environment interactions, population and migration, settlement, economic and social processes, environmental change, natural hazards and risks, sustainability, geographic information systems, remote sensing, and other geospatial technologies.

In addition, studies that make theoretical or methodological contributions to geography, as well as interdisciplinary research, are considered provided that they clearly demonstrate a geographical perspective and spatial approach in their research problem, methodology, or analysis.

Studies that are merely descriptive, are not based on a clearly defined research problem, or do not adequately incorporate a geographical perspective and spatial dimension into their scientific framework may be considered outside the scope of the journal. Manuscripts deemed not to comply with the journal's aim and scope, publication policies, or scientific quality standards may be rejected by editorial decision without being sent for peer review.
