Journal of AI began assigning DOIs to articles in 2023.

Journal of AI is open to papers on various topics within the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It invites submissions that contribute to the advancement of AI, encompassing a wide range of areas such as cognition and AI, automated reasoning and inference, case-based reasoning, commonsense reasoning, computer vision, constraint processing, ethical AI, heuristic search, human interfaces, intelligent robotics, knowledge representation, machine learning, multi-agent systems, natural language processing, planning and action, and reasoning under uncertainty. The journal seeks to publish both research findings and innovative approaches to AI problems, with an emphasis on demonstrating their practical value and effectiveness.

Journal of AI also accepts papers that discuss the applications of AI. However, the emphasis should be on how these applications leverage new and innovative AI methods to improve performance, rather than simply presenting another application of conventional AI techniques. Papers on applications should provide a principled solution, highlight its novelty, and include a thorough evaluation of the AI techniques utilized.

Journal of AI applies and accepts the publishing principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) organizations. In addition, the Journal of AIapplies the publishing principles determined by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM DergiPark.

The Journal of AI regularly publishes one issue per year. Special issues can also be published. All policies and operations applied in regular issues are used exactly for special issues.
