Submission Phase

• The manuscripts submitted to Ege Journal of Education should not have been published in any other journal before or sent to a journal to be published. Unpublished papers presented at scholastic conferences, and papers generated from dissertation or thesis can be submitted by giving the conference name, date, and venue in the footnotes.
• Submission process is carried out only through the Dergipark online system (https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/journal/264/submission/step/manuscript/new). Submissions via mail or e-mail are not accepted.
• Authors should upload the full-text article which complies with the author guidelines and manuscript template of Ege Journal of Education, the similarity report, Copyright and Author Agreement, and Ethics Committee Certificate of Approval (except for review articles and papers studying open access publications) to the system. Similarity reports should be taken following the rules below:

  • Exclude Bibliography: On
• A collaboration has been made between DergiPark and the Intihal.net similarity system. Ege Journal of Education accepts also this similarity report. Authors will be informed during the article submission. When the file upload is finished, the system will start to create the similarity report. The result will be notified to the author by e-mail. After that, the author will be able to complete the submission process. Editors will be able to review the similarity report via the link on the article process page.
• Articles in Turkish and in English are published in Ege Journal of Education. Manuscripts written in Turkish should include an extended abstract in English, manuscripts in English should include an extended abstract in Turkish. Authors whose native language is not Turkish can prepare the extended abstract in English; an English-to-Turkish translation will be provided by the Editorial Board.
  

Initial Screening Phase

• Initial screening of the manuscript is carried out by the Editor, Field Editor, and if necessary, by Statistics Editor and Proofreading Editor in terms of its compliance with the similarity acceptance rate, the author guidelines and manuscript template, scientific methodology, and its relevancy to the scope of the journal.
• At his stage, the manuscripts with major flaws in methodology, the manuscripts with insufficient contributions to the field, and/or the manuscripts which are incomplete are rejected.
• For the manuscripts with a similarity rate higher than the one determined by the journal and for the manuscripts which do not conform to the Guide for Authors, revisions are required.
• Authors have the right to withdraw their manuscripts at this stage.
  

Evaluation Phase

• Manuscripts which pass the initial screening were evaluated by at least two reviewers. It is paid attention not to assign reviewers from the same institution as the authors and to assign reviewers from different institutions for the review of one manuscript.
• Reviewers are expected to conclude the evaluation process in 15 days by filling in the evaluation form relevant to the type and methodology of the manuscript. When the time is exceeded only once, extension is granted to the reviewers. If the report is delayed for the second time, reviewing process is cancelled and new reviewers are assigned.
• Generally, when the recommendation of the two reviewers is to “accept” it, the manuscript is accepted to be published; when both reviewers request major or minor revisions, the manuscript goes under revision or a third reviewer is invited; when one of the reviewers recommends to “accept” it, but the other requests major or minor revisions, the manuscript is rejected or a third reviewer is assigned to it; when three reviewers recommend major or minor revisions, the manuscript should be revised or it is rejected; when one or two of the three reviewers recommend to “reject” it, the manuscript is rejected. Rarely, however, different decisions can be taken considering the reviewers’ meticulous evaluations carried out by elaborate reading using scientific criteria.
• Authors may be asked to revise the manuscript by taking into consideration the reviewers’ evaluations. They are expected to make the revisions within 15 days. Authors reserve the right to decline revisions as long as they provide a written statement.
• The manuscript is sent back to the reviewers who would like to reconsider it after authors’ revision.
• At any stage of the evaluation process, when it is needed, Advisory Board of the journal can be consulted.
• The editorial board obtains a similarity report once again after a positive peer review process.
• Editorial Board makes the decision about the publication of the manuscripts after studying the peer-reviewers’ evaluation reports, authors’ corrections, and the similarity report obtained after the reviewing process.
  

Copyediting Phase

• Papers accepted for publication are screened by the language proofreading and technical editors of Ege Journal of Education. At this stage, authors may be asked for redaction in terms of grammar and orthography or adjustments to format. When the authors make the necessary revisions, the paper is published. Otherwise, the Editorial Board may decide not to accept the publication of the paper.
• For the manuscripts ready to be published, Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is obtained, and the article is published online either in Early View at journal’s website or in the volume it is assigned.
• The publication process of an article in Ege Journal of Education takes an average of 26 weeks from the date of submission.
• Manuscripts to be published are sequenced in accordance with their submission date, field of study, variety in authors and their institutions.
• Manuscripts in English are given priority due to the journal’s aim to get indexed in international citation databases.
• The acceptance rate of Ege Journal of Education in 2022 was 29%.
