Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

With the ULAKBIM decision of 25 February 2020, the condition "For all disciplines (including social sciences), for studies requiring an ethics committee decision, ethics committee approval must be obtained and this approval must be specified and documented in the article" has been introduced. For this reason, it is important that authors submitting studies to our journal whose process started in 2020 or will start in the following years pay attention to this issue and upload the ETHICS COMMITTEE APPROVAL as an additional file when uploading the article. In addition, authors are required to include the information about the ethics committee approval (name of the committee, date and number) in the Methods section and on the last page of the article.

The types of research that require ethics committee approval are as follows

1 - All types of research using qualitative or quantitative approaches that involve the collection of data from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques.
2 - Use of humans and animals (including materials/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
3-Clinical research involving human subjects,
4- Research on animals,
5- Retrospective studies in accordance with the law on the protection of personal data,

Also

1- Indication that the "informed consent form" has been obtained in case presentations,
2- Obtaining and stating permission from the owners for the use of scales, questionnaires and photographs belonging to others,
3-Stating that the copyright of the intellectual and artistic works used has been respected. 

 

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors, Assistant Editors, and Field Editors

The ethical responsibilities of the editors, assistant editors, and field editors of the Journal of Education and Human Sciences: Theory and Practice are listed below.

·           To formulate journal policies by discussing them in the editorial board and to evaluate the impact of these policies.

·           To inform reviewers, authors, and researchers about the journal's publication and ethical principles and to consider traditional feedback.

·           To conduct a preliminary evaluation of articles submitted for publication in terms of compliance with the journal's publication policy, originality, contribution to the field, and adequacy.

·           To inform authors of articles deemed unsuitable for publication and to include those deemed suitable for publication in the publication scope.

·           To assign field experts and/or reviewers with expertise in the subject matter of articles received through publication.

·           To provide supplementary peer review and evaluation services for articles received from publications.

·           To maintain a detailed guide archive for authors submitting articles to the journal and to answer authors' questions in an explanatory manner.

·           To objectively determine the field editors and reviewers to be assigned to articles, in accordance with the relevant publication's field of study.

·           To ensure that the double-blind review process between reviewers and authors is recorded.

·           To allow for the replacement of reviewers in cases of conflict of interest between reviewers and authors.

·           To ensure that reviewers conduct timely, sound, and effective evaluations. To encourage participation in this field.

 

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

All articles in the Journal of Education and Human Sciences: Theory and Practice are reviewed using a double-blind peer-review system (1 editor/field expert and at least 2 reviewers). Authors have no knowledge of the reviewers evaluating their articles, nor do the reviewers have knowledge of the authors. Communication between authors and reviewers is facilitated by the editors. For this physical EİBD, reviewers evaluating articles have the following ethical responsibilities:

·           Refusal to evaluate articles outside their area of ​​expertise

·           Evaluating articles according to the double-blind principle

·           Adhering to principles and guidelines during the evaluation process

·           Understanding the reasons for the peer review system's evaluation of the article's publication method

·           Using a scientifically sound, polite, and democratic language

·           Evaluating articles within the allotted time

 

 Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

·           Articles submitted to the Journal of Education and Human Sciences: Theory and Practice must not be simultaneously submitted to another journal.

·           To write articles objectively, in accordance with scientific research methodology and report writing principles.

·           To include all citations in the bibliography, and to ensure that the sources listed in the bibliography are present in the text.

·           To avoid engaging in actions contrary to scientific research and publication ethics as stated in Article 4 of the Interuniversity Board Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Guidelines (https://www.uak.gov.tr/documents/documents/68838b0a08031.pdf) in the articles.
