Blind review is a method used to ensure that scientific publications are of the highest quality. This method is fundamental to the objective review of scientific studies and is preferred by many scientific journals. The views of the reviewers determine the quality of publications in Education & Youth Research. Articles deemed suitable by the preliminary review or editorial board are sent to two referees who are known for their work and activity in their field. If the decisions are accepted or rejected, the opinion of a third referee is sought. The peer review process continues until two positive or two negative reviews of the article are received. Invitations are sent to a maximum of twelve reviewers for an article. If no results are received from the reviewers during this process, the article will be returned. Reviewers' reports are confidential and will be kept on file for two years. All manuscripts submitted to Education & Youth Research are peer-reviewed using the following blind review process:
Blind review method
Education & Youth Research uses the double-blind review method in the review process of all studies. With this method, the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential.
Initial Review Process
Studies submitted to Education & Youth Research are first reviewed by the editors. At this stage, studies that are not related to the journal's purpose and scope, are poorly written, lack originality, contain critical scientific errors, and do not meet the publication criteria are rejected. Authors of such studies will be notified within one month of the submission date. And the studies that are deemed suitable are assigned to reviewers.
Reviewer Reports
In general, reviewer reports are based on the originality of the studies, methods, ethical considerations, consistency of presentation of findings and results, and analysis of the studies in relation to the literature. This evaluation is based on the following criteria
Introduction and literature: The reviewer's report includes an opinion on the presentation and aims of the problem addressed in the study, the importance of the topic, the scope of the related literature, the originality and timeliness of the study.
Method: The reviewer's report includes opinions on the appropriateness of the research method, sample selection and characteristics, validity and reliability issues, and data collection and analysis.
Results: The reviewer's report includes opinions on the presentation of the results obtained by the method, the accuracy of the analytical methods, the consistency of the study's objectives and results, the presentation of the necessary tables, graphs, and figures, and the conceptual evaluation of the scales.
Evaluation and Discussion: The reviewer's report includes views on discussions based on the findings, fit with the research question(s) and hypothesis(s), generalizability, and applicability.
Conclusions and Suggestions: The reviewer's report includes opinions on the contribution to the literature, recommendations for future studies, and suggestions for applications in the field.
Style and Wording: The reviewer's report includes opinions on whether the title conveys the content of the study, whether the Turkish language is used accurately, and whether APA7 rules are followed in providing references and in-text references in parallel with the language of the full text.
Overall evaluation: The reviewers' report includes their opinion on the originality of the study as a whole and its contribution to the educational literature and applications.
In the review process, reviewers are not expected to redact the study according to its galley characteristics.
Review Process
Reviewers are be given 4 weeks to review the paper. Authors are required to complete their work within this time frame. Reviewers may request multiple reviews of a study if they deem it necessary.
The editor evaluates the peer review within two weeks and then notifies the author(s) of these evaluations within two weeks.
How long does the peer review process take?
The peer review process for studies submitted to Education & Youth Research is expected to take 10 weeks. However, this does not include the time it takes for the editor to contact the author(s) and for the author(s) to complete the editing process.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
The opinions of the referees are taken as a basis in the decision processes regarding the publication of the articles sent to EYOR. In this context, all publications sent to EYOR are evaluated according to the double-blind peer review system in line with the principles of impartiality, independence and reliability. The roles and obligations of the referees who evaluate for EYOR are listed below:
In order for the evaluation processes to be faster and healthier, the referees who feel insufficient to evaluate the subject covered in the articles directed to them, who think that the subject is not related to their field of expertise, and / or who do not have enough time for evaluation, should immediately inform the editors so that they can contact the alternative referees and offer a review. their refusal
They do not share the articles or information about the articles with third parties, whether they accept the review or not, because the articles sent to them are classified as confidential documents, do not use the information they obtain during the arbitration process for their personal interests and in this sense, they abide by the principle of confidentiality,
To declare clearly when they think that they are faced with a conflict of interest and to inform the editors by refusing to review the relevant article,
Being objective and constructive while evaluating the works sent to them, using polite language, making comments only on the text sent to them regardless of their personality, and explaining all their arguments about the text with supportive discourse and sources,
Evaluating the articles they reach within the framework of the journal's publishing policies and ethical principles, informing the editor of the journal about the scientific and ethical problems they encounter.
