Referees Guide
Gazi Türkiyat publishes original research articles evaluated by expert referees in the field. The features of the referee evaluation process are as follows:
Referees are selected from among experts who have a doctorate degree and publications in the field related to the subject of the article to be evaluated. Since Gazi Türkiyat operates in the DergiPark system, referees must also be members of the DergiPark system. Care is taken not to assign referees to the article from the institution and/or department where the author works. In addition, care is taken to ensure that the referees are not from the same institution and/or department. Peer evaluation is also taken into consideration in the selection of referees. Information on referees selected from universities in Turkey can be found on the YÖK Academic website, and referees selected from abroad can be found on Publons.
Duties and Responsibilities of Referees
After accepting the referee invitation, referees must comply with ethical principles and rules and international referee standards.
All articles sent to the journal are evaluated through blind refereeing. After the submitted articles are evaluated and technically examined by the editors, they are sent to two expert referees in the field without giving the author information. The author's name is not sent to the referees, and the referee's name is not given to the authors.
Referees must guarantee that they will not share any process, the whole or part of the article regarding the articles they evaluate.
Referee evaluations are generally based on the originality of the studies, the method used, compliance with ethical rules, consistent presentation of findings and results, and examination of the literature. The process should be based on the principles of impartiality and scientific nature, and the rejection reasons for the candidate articles to be rejected should be stated clearly and in detail.
Referees must definitely state their title, name and institution in the evaluation report, and must fill out the form completely and sign it. (Referee Evaluation Form is available in the DergiPark System.)
Referee Review
Referees should review the articles they will evaluate in line with the principles of objectivity under the following headings in the evaluation form.
Does the study have originality and scientificity in terms of the presentation of the problem and its objectives, subject, scope and method?
Does the study critically evaluate original current sources and include the author's original comments?
Are the titles, abstract and conclusion sections, and the figures, tables, pictures, maps, etc. used appropriate to the content of the study?
If there is a situation requiring ethics committee approval in the study, has an ethics document been submitted?
