The Relationship Between Adolescent-Parent Career Congruence and Emotional Autonomy: The Mediating Role of Self-Esteem

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the mediatory role of self-esteem in the relationship between adolescents’ adolescent-parent career congruence and their emotional autonomy. The study group of the study consists of 379 adolescents between the ages of 14-18, who continue their high school education. Of the 379 adolescents in the study group, 134 (%35.4) were boys and 245 (%64.6) were girls. The research is designed in accordance with the relational screening model. The “Adolescent-Parent Career Congruence Scale”, the “Emotional Autonomy Scale the “Two-Dimensional Self-Esteem Scale”, and a “Personal Information Form” were used to collect the study data. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficients, and Regression Based Bootstrapping Technique were used to analyze the research data. According to the results of the study, it was seen that adolescent-parent career congruence was a significant predictor of adolescents' self-esteem. However, it was found that self-esteem had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between adolescent-parent career adaptability and emotional autonomy. However, it was found that self-esteem had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between adolescent-parent career congruence and emotional autonomy.

Ergen-Ebevenyn Kariyer Uyumu İle Duygusal Özerklik Arasındaki İlişki: Benlik Saygısının Aracı Rolü

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ergenlerin ergen-ebeveyn kariyer uyumu ile duygusal özerklikleri arasındaki ilişkide benlik saygısının aracı rolünü incelemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu lise eğitimine devam eden, 14-18 yaş arasındaki 379 ergenden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma grubunda yer alan 379 ergenin 134’ü (%35,4) erkek, 245’i (%64,6) kızlardan oluşmaktadır. Araştırma ilişkisel tarama modeline uygun olarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın gerekli verileri elde etmek için “Ergen-Ebeveyn Kariyer Uyumu Ölçeği”, “Duygusal Özerklik Ölçeği”, “İki Boyutlu Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği” ve “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde ise Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyon Katsayı Analizi ve Regresyon Temelli Bootstrapping Tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, ergen-ebeveyn kariyer uyumunun ergenlerin benlik saygısının anlamlı birer yordayıcısı olduğu görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte ergenlerin ergen-ebeveyn kariyer uyumu ile duygusal özerklikleri arasındaki ilişkide benlik saygısının kısmi aracılık etkisi olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
