Journal of Economics and Political Sciences (JEP) aims to encourage academic studies in different disciplines of social sciences, especially in the fields of economics, political science and international relations, to contribute to the literature in relevant fields, and to be a quality academic platform where scientific and critical studies are published.
Journal of Economics and Political Sciences (JEP) is a scientific journal published electronically by Düzce University, Akçakoca Bey Faculty of Political Sciences.
In addition to original theoretical and analytical studies, the journal also publishes book reviews.
The journal is published twice a year, in the June and December..
Articles in Turkish or English from relevant fields are accepted to the journal, where a double-blind referee process is carried out.
Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
Research Ethics
The journal upholds the highest standards of research ethics and adopts the international principles of research ethics defined below. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that manuscripts comply with ethical guidelines. The principles of integrity, quality and transparency must be ensured in the design, review of the design and conduct of the research. The research team and participants should be fully informed about the purpose of the research, its methods and possible anticipated uses, and the requirements and risks, if any, of participation in the research. Confidentiality of information provided by research participants and confidentiality of respondents must be ensured. The research should be designed to protect the autonomy and dignity of the participants. Research participants should take part in the research voluntarily and should not be under any coercion. Any harm to participants should be avoided. The research should be planned in a way that does not put participants at risk. Research independence must be clear and explicit; any conflict of interest must be stated. In experimental studies, written informed consent must be obtained from participants who decide to participate in the research. If the study is to be conducted in any institution or organization, the approval of the legal guardian of children and those under guardianship or those with a certified mental illness must be obtained. In studies with a human element, it should be stated in the “method” section that “informed consent” has been obtained from the participants and ethics committee approval has been obtained from the institution where the study is conducted.

Sophie Nanyonga is an academic researcher and a senior lecturer at Duzce University in the department of Political Science and Public Administration. She holds a PhD in International Relations from Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University. Her research focuses on globalization, diplomacy, foreign policy, governance, and international development. Dr. Nanyonga’s work has been published in various academic outlets, and she has presented her findings at both international and national conferences.
Dr Hasan Harmancı completed his undergraduate education in the Department of Economics (English) at Istanbul University between 2011 and 2015. He received his MSc in International Trade, Strategy, and Operations from the University of Warwick in 2016–2017. From 2018 to 2022, he pursued doctoral studies in International Business at the University of St Andrews, where he completed his PhD with a dissertation entitled “A Holistic Approach to Internationalization: Motives, Enablers, and Patterns of Emerging Market SMEs.”
Dr Harmancı commenced his academic career as a tutor at the University of St Andrews, serving in this role from 2018 to 2020. He is currently a Lecturer (PhD) in the Department of Economics at the Akçakoca Bey Faculty of Political Sciences, Düzce University.
Doç. Dr. HİCRAN HAMZA ÇELİKYAY
1996 yılında Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Programcılığı bölümünden mezun oldu. 2000-2009 yılları arasında İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi’nde Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemi uzmanı olarak görev yapmıştır. 2010 yılında Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi Kentsel Sistemler ve Ulaştırma Yönetimi yüksek lisans programını yüksek onur derecesiyle ve 2017 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Yerel Yönetimler Anabilim Dalı Mahalli İdareler ve Yerinden Yönetim Bilim Dalı’nda doktora programını yüksek onur derecesiyle mezun olmuştur. 2014- 2015 yıllarında Siyaset, Ekonomi Toplum Araştırmaları Vakfı’nda (SETA) araştırmacı olarak ve 2016-2017 yıllarında Yeşilay Genel Merkezi Bilimsel Araştırmalar Birim Yöneticisi olarak görev yapmıştır.
2018 yılında Düzce Üniversitesi Akçakoca Bey Siyasal Bilgiler Fakültesi Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi bölümünde öğretim üyesi olarak göreve başlamıştır. Kamu Politikası Anabilim Dalı başkanıdır. 15.11.2021- 02.02.2022 tarihlerinde Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Southern Tarım ve Teknik Üniversitesi’nde “Akıllı Şehirlerde IoT Teknolojileri: Gizlilik ve Güvenlik Esasları” konusunda araştırma yapmıştır. 11.08.2022 tarihinde Yerel Yönetimler, Kent ve Çevre Politikaları Bilim alanında Doçent ünvanı almaya hak kazanmıştır.
Çalışma alanları arasında Yerel Yönetimler, Kent ve Çevre Politikaları, Kamu Politikaları, Metropoliten Yönetim, Kentsel Sistemler, Akıllı Şehirler, Kent Mülteciliği ve Göç Politikaları bulunmaktadır.
He received his BA, MA, and PhD from Istanbul University's Faculty of Economics. He has held faculty and administrative positions at Kırıkkale University, Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Sarajevo University International University, Turkish Aeronautical Association University, Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, and Istanbul University. He has served as an assistant specialist at the Prime Ministry Family Research Institution, Vice President at the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, Vice President at the Competition Authority, Vice President at ÖSYM, and chair and member of various boards and commissions within the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). He is the team leader of the Turkey Referencing Report, which references Turkey's general, vocational, and academic education systems with European frameworks. His primary interests include the reform of the financial system and economic development, social policy, poverty, and the higher education system. Currently, Toprak is a faculty member at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University and President of the Istanbul Social Enterprise Association.
Mehmet Yüce, Uludağ Üniversitesi İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi Maliye Bölümünden mezun oldu. Aynı üniversiteden Mali İktisat Bilim Dalında Yüksek lisans ve Mali Hukuk Anabilim Dalında Doktora eğitimini tamamladı. 2001 yılında Mali Hukuk Ana Bilim Dalında Yardımcı Doçent olarak atandı. 2005 yılında Doçentlik, 2010 yılında ise Profesörlük unvanı aldı. 2019 yılında Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Üniversitesinde Uluslararası İlişkiler Bölümü Yüksek Lisans programı, 2020 yılında ise yine aynı üniversitede Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi Bölümü Yüksek Lisans programı tamamladı. Yüce, 2018 yılında Kuzey Makedonya Uluslararası Vizyon Üniversitesi hukuk fakültesi, 2023 yılında ise Atatürk Üniversitesi Sosyoloji bölümü mezunu oldu. Yüce, Uludağ üniversitesinde İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi Dekanlığı, Hukuk Fakültesi Dekanlığı, Genel Sekreterlik ve Rektör Yardımcılığı görevleri yanı sıra Kırgızistan İktisat ve Girişimcilik Üniversitesinde Rektör Yardımcılığı ve Dekanlık; Azerbaycan İktisat Üniversitesi Türk Dünyası İktisat Fakültesinde dekanlık görevini yürüttü. Hali hazırda T.C. Çevre, Şehircilik ve İklim Değişikliği Bakanlığı Türkiye Çevre Bakanlığında Başkan Yardımcılığı görevi yürütmektedir.
Dr. Joseph J. Kaminski received his PhD in Political Science from Purdue University in 2014 and currently holds the rank of Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the International University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is also a Research Associate at the Ummatics Institute. His current research interests include religion and politics, comparative political theory, and new approaches to Islam and public reason. He has a solo-authored article forthcoming in The Journal of Politics as well as numerous peer-reviewed articles appearing in journals such as PS: Political Science and Politics, Social Compass, Thunderbird International Business Review, and Religious Studies Review. He is also the author of two manuscripts: The Contemporary Islamic Governed State: A Reconceptualization (Palgrave, 2017) and Islam, Liberalism, and Ontology: A Critical Re-evaluation (Routledge, 2021).
Mehmed Ganić, Ph.D., is a Full Professor of Economics specializing in Macro-Finance Theory, Applied Econometrics, and Financial Economics. He has over 14 years of academic background in the graduate and postgraduate level of various economic and finance courses and 11 years of professional experience in the finance industry. A specialist in East and Central European economics, he has published numerous scholarly articles widely in reputable journals and has authored four books. The bulk of his research attempts to extend standard growth-finance theoretical models. He also specializes in the Program Development and Regulation of Securities Markets (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission), focusing on Mutual Funds Enforcement, Disclosure, Accounting, and Audit. Familiar with various equity valuation models and performance analysis. Experience with security classifications (sectors, industry groups, industries, sub-industries).
