Types of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is an unethical act of copying someone's previous ideas, processes, results, and words without explicit acknowledgment of the original source or author.
JMFS is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes articles and compilations on Music sciences.

Submitted articles are evaluated according to the double-blind peer review system. JMFS and its board members take the issue of plagiarism seriously and act diligently.

According to JMFS, the types of plagiarism are as follows:
Full Plagiarism: Previously published content without any changes in the text, idea and grammar is considered full plagiarism. Presenting the exact text taken from a source as one's own is known as full plagiarism.
Partial Plagiarism: If the content is a mixture of multiple different sources where the author extensively rephrases the text, this is also known as partial plagiarism.
Self-Plagiarism: Self-plagiarism occurs when an author reuses all or part of his or her previously published research. When an author republishes a published work of his or hers in a new journal, it is also considered self-plagiarism.

Plagiarism Action Plan and Journal's Precautions
The journal respects intellectual property and aims to protect and promote the original work of its authors. Plagiarized articles are against quality, research and innovation standards. Therefore, all authors who submit articles to the journal are expected to comply with ethical standards and avoid any form of plagiarism. If a submitted or published article is suspected of containing plagiarism, the journal's Editorial Board will first review the study. This study is then reviewed by the Editorial Board. The Journal then contacts the author(s) to send their comments within 15 days. If the journal does not receive any response from the author within the specified period, it contacts the university to which the author is affiliated and requests that the claim be investigated.

The journal will take the following serious measures against published articles that are found to contain plagiarism:
• The journal will immediately contact the university to which the author(s) is affiliated in order to take definitive action against the relevant author.
• The journal will remove the PDF copy of the published article from its website, remove the full issue from its file, and disable all links to the published article. The phrase "Plagiarized Article" will be added to the title of the published article.
• The journal will deactivate the author account and reject all future submissions from the author for 2 years.
Note: When readers notice an error or inaccuracy in a published article, they can make a complaint by sending an e-mail to https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/jmfs or jmfs@sakarya.edu.tr
The author must submit the similarity report in new studies submitted to the journal. Pre-checked articles can be scanned for plagiarism again using the iThenticate program.
If plagiarism/self-plagiarism is detected, authors will be notified. If an article with high similarity rates (maximum 20%) is detected, it may be rejected or sent back to the author to reduce the similarity rate.
