For manuscripts that require ethical committee approval, the ethics committee approval document must be uploaded to the system as a supplementary file in PDF format. For manuscripts that include review articles or translations, the relevant texts must likewise be uploaded as PDF files as supplementary material.

Kocatepe Journal of Art, Design and Communication is a peer-reviewed academic journal published electronically twice a year (February and August). No fees are charged to authors at any stage of the manuscript evaluation or publication process.

For studies requiring ethical committee approval, authors must obtain approval from the relevant ethics committee. This approval (including the committee name, date, and approval number) must be stated on the first page of the manuscript and in the methodology section. The ethics committee approval document must be uploaded to the system as a PDF supplementary file. For such studies, authors are advised to review the journal’s Ethical Principles and Publication Policy.

The journal publishes manuscripts in Turkish and English. A maximum of one manuscript by the same author may be published in a single issue.

Manuscripts submitted for publication undergo the following stages: Editorial Board Review, Preliminary Evaluation, Peer Review, and Language Editing.

Manuscripts deemed unsuitable for evaluation by the Editorial Board are returned to the author. During the Preliminary Evaluation stage, manuscripts are reviewed once for compliance with the journal’s writing guidelines. If the requested revisions are not completed, the manuscript is rejected and is not reconsidered within the same publication period. Manuscripts that pass the Preliminary Evaluation are submitted to a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two reviewers.

For international citation and referencing standards, Kocatepe Art, Design and Communication Journal recommends the use of Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote reference management software in manuscript preparation.

Manuscripts must be prepared using the journal’s article template, or existing texts must be transferred into the template. Manuscripts that are not prepared in accordance with the article template will not be taken into evaluation.

Authors who have submitted a manuscript to the journal must wait for two (2) issues before submitting another manuscript. Otherwise, the newly submitted manuscript will be returned to the author.
