Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yavuz Karafil is a faculty member at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Faculty of Sport Sciences, Department of Sport Management. His research focuses on sport psychology, sport management, and gender studies in sport. He particularly employs Q methodology to explore athletes’ psychological processes, coaches’ strategies, and the social dimensions of sport. He has contributed to the academic literature with articles published in national and international journals, book chapters, and research projects. Dr. Karafil also serves as an editor and reviewer for various peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in Erasmus+ and international academic collaborations.
Dr. C. Sukumaran is a dedicated Director of Physical Education at Government Law College with over two decades of teaching and research experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Education and an M.Sc. in Psychology, alongside certifications in IBM Data Analysis and Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Dr. Sukumaran has authored numerous peer-reviewed research articles on topics such as AI in Sports, Natural Language Processing, and Physical Education. He serves as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE and as a reviewer for prestigious journals like the Journal of Multidisciplinary Healthcare and Journal of Prevention.
A member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Dr. Sukumaran’s contributions extend to international workshops and conferences, where he has been a valued resource person

Extensive experience of over a decade in the field of sports and physical education, serving as a university professor, journal editor, and football as well as strength and conditioning coach. Author of more than 100 scientific publications, currently engaged in research on match-running performance, cardiorespiratory and motor abilities in athletes, motor development in children, body composition and obesity among, along with broader topics in sports science and the sociology of sport.
Assistant Professor and Researcher in Physical Education and Sport Sciences, with a primary research focus on performance assessment and testing in high-performance and elite sport. My work addresses sports performance evaluation, training monitoring, physiological and motor testing, and applied sport science methodologies. I serve as a reviewer for internationally recognized journals and as a member of editorial boards and scientific committees. I have authored and co-authored over 80 scientific publications through international collaborations.
Dr. Kristina Drole earned her master's degree from the Faculty of Sport, University of Ljubljana, with the thesis "Health status and injuries of former elite athletes". At the same faculty, she was funded as a young researcher by the Public Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation of the Republic of Slovenia and received her doctorate with the dissertation "Effects of physical, psychosocial and dual-career loads on injuries and illnesses among elite handball players". Her scientific and research work is focused on a holistic approach to athletes' health and monitoring sports performance, with a special emphasis on various types of physical and psychosocial loads, stress and blood biomarkers as key indicators for the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries and diseases. She is actively involved in national and international research projects in the field of health and physical activity, and her publications address topics such as exercise for health, athlete health, sports performance, and the challenges of dual careers. During her doctoral studies, she published 17 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 2 professional papers, and presented her work at 6 scientific conferences. She participated in more than ten national and international research projects.
Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Journal of Sports Sciences is a scientific and refereed journal published twice a year in June and December.
