Journal Plagiarism Policy

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Journal of Sports Sciences Plagiarism Policy

Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the use of ideas, data, writings, or works of others without proper citation and claiming them as one's own. Our journal places great importance on academic ethical standards and strictly rejects any act of plagiarism.

Plagiarism Detection Process
All articles submitted to our journal are subjected to a preliminary review using plagiarism detection software (iThenticate, Turnitin, etc.). The plagiarism rate in submitted articles is limited to a maximum of 20%. Articles with a plagiarism rate above this limit are not considered for the evaluation process, and the author(s) are informed.

Citation of Sources
Authors must appropriately cite all sources they use in their work. Direct quotations, tables, or figures taken from other works must be used with proper citation. Failure to do so will be considered plagiarism.

Possible Plagiarism Scenarios
If plagiarism is suspected in a manuscript, the editors and reviewers will thoroughly investigate the matter. The following cases will be considered plagiarism:

Verbatim copying (excessive similarity)
Failure to properly cite the original source
Presenting the ideas or findings of others as the author's own
Republishing previously published work (even from one's own work)
Actions in Case of Plagiarism Detection
If plagiarism is detected, the following steps will be taken:

The article will be immediately rejected.
The author(s) will be informed about the plagiarism, and if necessary, academic institutions may also be consulted.
If plagiarism is confirmed, the author(s)' future submissions to our journal may not be considered.
Ethical Standards
Articles submitted to our journal must comply with scientific research and publication ethics. Authors should take all necessary precautions to prevent ethical violations in their work.

Self-Plagiarism
Authors should not attempt to republish previously published work or significant portions of it. New manuscripts based on previously published work should clearly indicate the original content and contribution.
