Author Guidelines

Writing rules for Marmara University Journal of Art and Design is in the article template which can be downloaded from the link below. Articles should be written/edited on the template and uploaded to DergiPark in MS Word Format (.doc or .docx) and without specifying the author's name anywhere in the article, including the file name. Information about the author should be uploaded separately as a title page.


IMPORTANT NOTE: Our journal's article template and title page were updated as of July 20, 2025. An extended abstract has been added to the template. Submitted articles must be a minimum of 3500 words and a maximum of 7000 words, excluding Turkish, English, and the extended abstract.

CITATIONS and REFERENCES
Citations: Within the text, in APA 7 format. For detailed information, you can visit APA's webpage: https://apastyle.apa.org/
References: It should be given at the end of the article, in APA 7 format, in alphabetical order, letters should be in 9 pt, line spacing should be 1.
Footnote: It should be numbered and written in 9pt.


Spelling: It should comply with the spelling rules stipulated by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Turkish Language Association.
Word Count: Submitted articles should be between 3,500 and 7,000 words in length, excluding extended abstrece and the abstracts written in Turkish ant English.
Research Support: If the research was supported by any institution, it should be indicated at the end of the article.
Graduate Thesis Articles: If the article is derived from a graduate thesis, it should be indicated as a footnote in the article.
Figures and tables: Photographs, images, figures, graphs and tables taken from other sources should be referenced in accordance with APA 7 format.


Similarity Report: It is mandatory to upload the similarity reports obtained from Turnitin or iThenticate programs to be submitted to our journal in the DergiPark system. The articles uploaded to the system are also automatically scanned via intihal.net. Articles with a similarity rate exceeding 20% will not be considered for the evaluation process.
