Aim & Scope

Mersin University School of Medicine Lokman Hekim Journal of Medical History and Folk Medicine has published scientific studies on the socio-cultural dimensions of medicine and health, especially on the history of medicine and ethics, folklore, health sociology, folkloric medicine practices.  It aims to contribute to the increase of qualified scientific knowledge in the literature by publishing scientific studies on the subject.

Mersin University School of Medicine Lokman Hekim Journal of History of Medicine and Folk Medicine accepts only online submissions. 

Submissions are required to be inedited and unsent to another journal in order to be published. In the event that the papers contain (hard or soft copy) pre-published quotation, table, figure, illustration, etc. the author is supposed to obtain written permission from individuals or enterprises possessing the copyright and it should be notified in the paper. Previously presented or published abstracts of studies are admissible on condition that it is indicated in the manuscript.

After the scientific assessment, the authors’ names order in the submission is predicated on. Any modifications after this process are only possible contingent upon written statement and permission of all contributory authors.

Double blind peer review process

This journal uses double-blind review process. If the manuscripts meet the journal’s style, they are evaluated by the editor and two reviewer. If necessary, the requested changes are made by the authors and the article is published with the approval of the Editorial Board.

All mentioned authors should have made substantial contribution to the manuscript. All contributory authors, regarding all kind of consequences, are responsible of the submissions’ scientific and ethical compliance. Institutions - organizations providing financial support and all sorts of commercial ties should be informed in the application letter sent to editor. In experimental cases and cases from local studies which harvest personal information, “Ethics Committee Approval” should be obtained. Its presence should be indicated in the paper and the instrument of approval (to be sent in case editor’s request) should be maintained.

SCREENING FOR PLAGIARISM

Lokman Hekim Journal use the iThenticate plagiarism detection tools during the editorial process (15 %) and reject papers leading to plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

Mersin University School of Medicine Lokman Hekim Journal of History of Medicine and Folk Medicine supports the Budapest Open Access Initiative statement of principles that promotes free access to research literatüre, including a Turkish translation of the recommendations.

Information sharing represents a public good, and is essential to the advancement of science. LANGUAGE AND STYLE

The languages of the journal are Turkish and English with Latin letters. Turkish Dictionary of Turkish Language Society and relevant medical glossary should be grounded on for Turkish papers. Spelling mistakes and grammar errors would be corrected by the editorial board without making any change in content.If the article is written English language, authors should have their papers checked for linguistic accuracy by a native English speaker. For the language editing of the article and to get the “Formal Certificate of Language Control and Correction".
