About

The Journal of Ottoman Civilization Studies [OSMED] is a peer-reviewed, international journal that publishes original studies that aim to contribute to Ottoman History and Ottoman Civilization.

The Journal of Ottoman Civilization Studies [OSMED] is published twice a year, in April and October [2015-2022]. As of 2023, it has been published four times a year: March, June, September, and December. Our journal includes Turkish and English scientific articles. If deemed necessary, the special issue(s) are published as well. The journal also publishes articles promoting scientific translation and books.

Authors who submit their articles to the journal are assumed to agree to grant the journal copyright. The Journal of Ottoman Civilization Studies [JOCS] owns the publication rights to all accepted publications.

OSMED organizes or supports academic conferences, symposia, workshops, and related events in-country or abroad. It includes the full versions of the proclamations submitted to these studies only if they have not been published elsewhere.

NOW AVAILABLE - Online submission: Articles for publication in the Journal of Ottoman Civilization Studies can be submitted online through Editorial Manager; please click here.

The journal's appraisal process takes 4 months per article, depending on peer assessments.

After the preliminary review of the papers presented orally at the symposium, it is decided whether or not to send them to the referees according to the decision of the editorial board or the field editor.
