STYLE and INSTRUCTIONS

1- Studies submitted for publication in SMAR should follow the following order: 1) Title, 2) Abstract, 3) Keywords [4-6], 4) Extended Abstract, 5) Introduction 6) Conceptual Background, 7) Research Method, 8) Findings, 9 ) Discussion and Conclusion, 10) Acknowledgments, 11) Bibliography, 12) Appendices.  Please use the template to provide the spelling rules.

2- The title should be written in Times New Roman, 20 points, aligned in the middle and with 1.15 line spacing. The first letters of the words should be capitalized and the others should be lowercase. It is recommended not to exceed 10 words. Author names (according to the language of the article) should be written centered under the first title and footnotes should be written; Title, Institution Information, Country, mail, Orcid information should be added. Please use the Template to fulfill other shape requirements.

3- Articles should have a length between 3000 and 8000 words. In case of necessity exceeding the limit, please contact the editor. With the approval of the editor, it can  exceed 8000 words.
• 3000-8000 word limit includes references and attachments. Please allocate 200 words to each figure or table.
• Each of the abstracts (Turkish-English) should be a maximum of 250 words (including 4-6 keywords).
• Turkish articles should start with the English Extended Abstract (500-1000 words) before the introduction.

4- Studies should pay attention to the following flow order.
• In the introduction to your study, mention your research rationale.
• Make a critical analysis of the literature relevant to the research.
• While writing the method section, talk about why your research method is necessary for the study. Also mention research limitations.
• In the conclusion part of the research, discuss your main findings by making use of the literature.

5- Please find the publication criteria below. 
• Clarity: It refers to the understandability of the article and the quality of communication with the readers. 
• Research Problem / Rationale: The authors need to clearly state the rationale of the study. In addition, the importance of the research problem/rationale should be emphasized by considering scholarly literature. Our journal, which aims at making ideas visible and creating social knowledge, returned the papers that do not have a clear research problem/rationale. 
• The objective of a Study: The purpose of the study must be clearly stated. 
• Language of a Study: Active sentences should be used in a study, and the authors avoid passive sentences where possible.
• Contribution of a Study to the Field: The theoretical, conceptual and practical contributions must be clearly stated in a study. 
• Article Length: Articles should be between 3000 and 8000 words in length. This includes all text including references and appendices. Please allow 200 words for each figure or table.
• Article Title: A title of not more than ten words should be provided.
• Abstract: Maximum 250 words in total (including keywords).
• Extended Abstract (English): Articles in Turkish must include an extended abstract that is written in English. An extended abstract will be between 500 and 1000 words).
• For Studies Requiring Ethics Committee's Permission: Information about the permission (committee name/date/number) should be included as text in the method section and as a footnote on the summary page. Researchers can access the ethical principles by clicking here.

In Text-Citations:

1- The authors should follow the guidelines of APA (7th Edition) in referencing and in-text citations.

2- Citations in the main text by indicating author’s name, publication date and page number within parenthesis.

• (Aydın, 2020) or (Aydın, 2020, p.7)
• For consecutive pages: (Foucault, 1977, pp.25-26)
• For more than one page (Güler, 2020, p.7-14)
• For different pages (Crowley, 2020, p.7,14,24)
• If the author’s name is provided in the sentence, the reference should be inserted at the end of the sentence as (2020, p.27).
• For multiple authors: (Barry ve Lee, 2020, p.7) or (Barry & Lee, 2020, p.7) or (Barry et al., p.7)
• If multiple references will be made for the same subject, resources should be separated by a semicolon (Rahman, 2007; Lekhavat, 2010) / (Rahman, 2007, p.24; Lekhavat, 2010, p.3)

3- Primary sources should be referenced. However, in cases where primary sources cannot be accessed, reference can be made to the cited source.

4- Direct quotations should be given in quotation marks (“ ”). For direct quotations exceeding 40 words, the quotation should be italicized in a separate paragraph.

References should be inserted at the end of the article in alphabetical order.

Social Media
• Social media posts may contain text only, text with audiovisuals (photos, videos), or audiovisuals only. Include the first 20 words of the text of a social media post.
• Do not alter the spelling and capitalisation of a social media reference (even if this is nonstandard). Include hashtags and links. Replicate emoji’s if you can; if not provide the emoji’s name in square brackets.

Documents to be Uploaded in the Application
1- Main Text (between 3000-8000 words)

5- Plagiarism Report (2% in a single work - should not exceed 20% in total) - Please contact the journal for mandatory situations.

Research Funding: Authors must declare all sources of external research funding in their article and a statement to this effect should appear in the Acknowledgements section. Authors should describe the role of the funder or financial sponsor in the entire research process, from study design to submission.

Language editing services

Sosyal Mucit Academic Review publishes papers in Turkish or English. Papers written in Turkish should include an English abstract and an extended abstract. Authors should submit their work after carefully reading the final draft. Submitted articles must have a clear and high-quality style in the language (Turkish and English) in which they are written, in accordance with grammatical and scientific rules. If the candidate article is accepted for publication, the final draft copy should be of high quality in terms of grammar and academic writing flow.

The Turkish and English language editors check the final copy of the draft. If language editors consider the language quality of the paper insufficient, they may request language proofreading. The paper for which editing is asked should be made by the accredited language institutions recommended below, and authors should submit the proofreading certificate to the journal. You can upload it to the system as an additional file. The candidate paper that is not proofread and whose certificate is not presented will not be accepted for publication.
