Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Authors who publish scientific articles in TÜDAD acknowledge that they have obtained all information in their work in accordance with ethical conduct and academic principles, and that they have fully cited the source of any statements, information, or findings not their own. Any legal liability arising from any breach of this agreement rests with the author.
Articles published in the International Journal of Turkic World Studies adhere to Research and Publication Ethics. Studies that do not comply will not be published in our journal.
The International Journal of Turkic World Studies expects all stakeholders to fulfill the following ethical responsibilities within the scope of publication ethics.
The ethical duties and responsibilities listed below have been prepared in accordance with the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for open access.
Authors' Ethical Responsibilities
Author(s) submitting a manuscript to the International Journal of Turkic World Studies must adhere to the following ethical responsibilities:
1. Author(s) submitting their manuscripts must be original. If they utilize or use other studies, they must fully and accurately cite and/or cite the studies they utilize. Manuscripts must be reviewed for plagiarism. This process aims to enhance the originality and scientific quality of the manuscripts and to prevent plagiarism.
2. Individuals who have not contributed intellectually to the content of the study should not be listed as authors.
3. For all studies submitted for publication, any potential conflicts of interest and relationships, if any, are disclosed.
4. Author(s) may be asked to provide raw data for their articles as part of the peer-review process; in such cases, they must be prepared to submit the expected data and information to the editorial board.
5. Author(s) must have documentation demonstrating that they have the rights to use the data used, have the necessary permissions for the research/analysis, or have obtained the consent of the experimental subjects.
6. If author(s) discover an error or mistake in their published, early-view, or under-review work, they are obligated to notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor in any correction or retraction process.
7. Authors may not have their work submitted to more than one journal simultaneously. Each submission is initiated following the completion of the previous submission. Work published in another journal cannot be submitted to the International Journal of Turkic World Studies.
8. No changes to author responsibilities (e.g., adding authors, changing the order of authors, removing authors) may be proposed for a work that has already been submitted for review.
Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
General Duties and Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for every publication in the International Journal of Turkic World Studies. In this context, editors have the following roles and responsibilities:
1. They strive to meet the information needs of readers and authors.
2. They ensure the continuous development of the journal.
3. They implement processes to improve the quality of studies published in the journal.
4. They support freedom of thought.
5. They ensure academic integrity.
6. They maintain business processes without compromising intellectual property rights and ethical standards.
7. They demonstrate openness and transparency in publishing matters requiring correction or clarification.
Reader Relations
Editors make decisions by considering the knowledge, skills, and experience needs of all readers, researchers, and practitioners. They ensure that published work contributes to readers, researchers, practitioners, and the scientific literature and is original in nature. Editors also consider feedback from readers, researchers, and practitioners, providing descriptive and informative feedback.
Author Relations
Editors' duties and responsibilities towards authors are as follows:
1. Editors make decisions regarding the importance, originality, validity, clarity of expression, and the journal's aims and objectives.
2. Editors accept manuscripts that meet the scope of publication into the preliminary evaluation stage, unless there are serious problems.
3. Editors do not ignore positive referee suggestions unless there are serious problems with the manuscript.
4. New editors cannot change the decisions made by previous editor(s) regarding the manuscripts unless there are serious problems.
5. Editors publish the "Blind Review and Evaluation Process" and prevent any deviations from the defined processes.
6. Editors provide clear and informative feedback and notification to authors.
Relationships with Reviewers
Editors' duties and responsibilities towards reviewers are as follows:
1. Editors select reviewers based on the subject matter of the study.
2. Editors provide the information and guidance reviewers need during the review process.
3. Editors monitor whether there are any conflicts of interest between authors and reviewers.
4. Editors maintain confidentiality of reviewers' identities in the context of blind review.
5. Editors encourage reviewers to review the manuscript using impartial, scientific, and objective language.
6. Editors evaluate reviewers using criteria such as timely response and performance.
7. Editors establish practices and policies that enhance reviewer performance.
8. Editors take the necessary steps to dynamically update the reviewer pool.
9. Editors discourage discourteous and unscientific reviews.
10. Editors take steps to ensure that the reviewer pool consists of a diverse range of reviewers.
Relationships with the Editorial Board
Editors ensure that editorial board members follow the editorial processes in accordance with editorial policies and guidelines. They inform editorial board members about editorial policies and keep them informed of developments. They train new editorial board members on editorial policies and provide them with the information they need.
Editors also:
1. They ensure that editorial board members evaluate the journal's work impartially and independently.
2. They select new editorial board members from among faculty members who are qualified and capable of contributing.
3. They submit articles relevant to their areas of expertise to the editorial board members for evaluation.
4. They interact regularly with the editorial board.
5. They hold regular meetings with the editorial board to discuss the development of editorial policies and the journal.
Relations with the Journal Owner and Publisher
The relationship between editors and publishers is based on the principle of editorial independence.
Editorial and Blind Review Processes
Editors implement the "Blind Review and Review Process" policies outlined in the journal's publication policies. In this context, editors ensure that each manuscript is reviewed fairly, impartially, and in a timely manner.
Quality Assurance
Editors publish every article in the journal in accordance with the journal's publishing policies and international standards.
Personal Data Protection
Editors ensure the protection of personal data related to subjects or images included in reviewed studies. They protect the personal data of authors, reviewers, and readers.
Ethics Committee, Human and Animal Rights
Editors ensure that human and animal rights are protected in the studies they review. They reject studies in cases where ethics committee approval for subjects and permissions for experimental research are not obtained.

Precautions Against Potential Misconduct and Abuse of Office
Editors take precautions against potential misconduct and abuse of office. They conduct a rigorous and objective investigation into complaints regarding these matters and share their findings.
Ensuring the Integrity of Academic Publication
Editors promptly correct any errors, inconsistencies, or misleading judgments contained in their work.
Protection of Intellectual Property Rights
Editors protect the intellectual property rights of all published articles and defend the rights of the journal and the author(s) in the event of potential violations. They also take the necessary precautions to ensure that the content of all published articles does not infringe the intellectual property rights of other publications.
Constructiveness and Openness to Discussion
Editors:
1. They consider persuasive criticisms of the works published in the journal and adopt a constructive approach to these criticisms.
2. They grant the author(s) of the criticized works the right to reply.
3. They do not ignore studies containing negative results.
Complaints
Editors carefully review complaints from authors, reviewers, or readers and respond to them in an informative and explanatory manner.
Political and Commercial Concerns
The journal owner, publisher, and any other political or commercial factors do not influence the editors' independent decision-making.
Conflicts of Interest
Editors ensure that the publication process is completed independently and impartially, taking into account any conflicts of interest among author(s), reviewers, and other editors.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
The evaluation of all manuscripts through "Blind Review" directly impacts publication quality. This process ensures trust through the objective and independent evaluation of the publication. The International Journal of Turkic World Studies review process is conducted using the principle of double-blind review. Reviewers cannot directly contact authors; evaluations and comments are communicated through the journal management system. During this process, reviewer comments on evaluation forms and full texts are communicated to the author(s) via the editors. In this context, reviewers evaluating manuscripts for the International Journal of Turkic World Studies are expected to have the following ethical responsibilities:
1. They agree to review only studies related to their field of expertise.
2. They conduct their evaluations impartially and confidentially.
3. If they believe they face a conflict of interest during the evaluation process, they decline to review the study and inform the journal editor of the matter.
4. In accordance with the principle of confidentiality, they destroy the studies they review after the evaluation process. They use only the final versions of the studies they review after publication.
5. They conduct evaluations objectively, focusing solely on the content of the study.
6. They do not allow nationality, gender, religious and political beliefs, or commercial concerns to influence the evaluation.
7. They conduct evaluations in a constructive and polite manner. They do not make derogatory personal comments containing hostility, slander, or insults.
8. They complete the work they accept for evaluation in a timely manner and within the framework of the above-mentioned ethical responsibilities.

No fees are charged to any author or institution under any title.
