TURAR Journal of Tourism and Research is a peer-reviewed, international academic journal.

The tourism sector represents one of the significant sources of income for countries. In this context, identifying the economic, social, cultural, and environmental factors affecting the tourism industry contributes to both the development of the sector and the resolution of the problems it faces. The dynamic and multifaceted nature of the tourism sector necessitates its development and examination as an interdisciplinary field.

In this regard, the aim of TURAR Journal is to provide an academic and scientific platform for publishing original, research-based scientific studies from various disciplines that are related to tourism and aim to contribute to the field at both national and international levels.

Each of the economic, social, cultural, and environmental factors has varying degrees of impact on the tourism sector. This necessitates examining tourism as an interdisciplinary field. The scope of TURAR Journal is broad, encompassing scientific research and studies from various disciplines related to the tourism sector as an interdisciplinary domain.

In terms of scope, TURAR Journal prioritizes the publication of original and high-quality scientific studies in the following disciplines:

Scientific studies submitted to TURAR Journal of Tourism and Research must be prepared in accordance with the following guidelines. Manuscripts should be submitted as (.doc) or (.docx) files via the Dergipark system, considering the criteria below:

• Prerequisite
Submitted manuscripts must not have been published elsewhere or be under review simultaneously in another publication. Authors are fully responsible for the content of published manuscripts. If requested by the reviewer(s) during the evaluation process, authors must share empirical data. Additionally, the copyright of the article submitted to the journal belongs to the Journal of Tourism Research.

• Submission Guidelines
Page Layout
Manuscripts should be formatted on A4 paper in portrait orientation and justified on both sides.

Font and Spacing
Manuscripts should be prepared using “Times New Roman” font, 12-point size, with “1.5 line spacing.”

Title
Titles must be provided in both Turkish and English.

Abstract
The abstract should be between 120 and 150 words. Keywords should be included. After the Turkish abstract, an English “Abstract” and “Keywords” should follow.

Keywords
A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords relevant to the subject and scope of the manuscript should be provided.

Manuscripts, including references, should not exceed 10,000 words. Authors should include their contact information, and structured abstracts are required. Based on reviewer reports, authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts.

• Reference Formatting
References must follow APA guidelines.

In-Text Citations
All references in the main text should use the in-text citation system. Parentheses should include the author's surname, publication year, and page number. If the same source is cited again, the same method should be used without using abbreviations such as ibid. If the author's name appears in the text, it should not be repeated in parentheses. For two authors, both surnames should be used. For three or more authors, use the first author's surname followed by "et al." If multiple sources are cited, separate them with semicolons. Footnotes may be used for explanations not suitable for the main text, applying the same citation method as above.

Explanatory Notes
Explanatory notes should appear at the end of the article. Use explanatory notes for clarifying abbreviations in citations.

• Structure of the Manuscript
Introduction
Provide a 3-4 paragraph introduction with a brief overview of the study and highlight its unique contributions compared to previous works. Avoid discussing findings or conclusions in this section.

Subheadings
Include subheadings approximately every 2-3 pages, and avoid long paragraphs. Number the headings starting from the introduction section.

Tables and Figures
Complex statistical tables should be placed at the end of the manuscript, while summary and descriptive tables should appear within the text. Number tables and figures sequentially. Each table or figure should be on a separate page.

Conclusion
Summarize the findings and discuss their contributions to the literature concisely in this section.

Ethical Guidelines and Publication Policy for TURAR Tourism and Research Journal
All works submitted for publication in the TURAR Tourism and Research Journal must comply with ethical guidelines. Therefore, submissions are reviewed to ensure adherence to the principles outlined in the Higher Education Council Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive. Additionally, the journal adopts the ethical standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows its principles in fulfilling responsibilities (COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors: Link).

The TURAR Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and adheres to the following principles outlined in the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. This declaration is based on the recommendations and guidelines developed by organizations such as COPE, the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

(1) Acts Violating Scientific Research and Publication Ethics
a) Plagiarism: Presenting others' original ideas, methods, data, or works as one’s own without proper citation.
b) Fabrication: Using nonexistent or falsified data in scientific research.
c) Falsification: Manipulating research records or data, presenting unused tools or materials as if utilized, or shaping research outcomes to serve specific interests.
d) Duplicate Publication: Submitting the same publication for multiple academic appointments or promotions as if they were separate works.
e) Slicing: Segmenting research results inappropriately and presenting them as separate publications for academic recognition.
f) Unjustified Authorship: Including individuals without active contribution as authors or excluding contributors; modifying the author order without justification; or adding names for influence.

(2) Other Types of Ethical Violations
a) Failing to acknowledge the support of persons or institutions in research publications.
b) Using unpublished theses or studies as references without permission.
c) Disregarding ethical rules in studies involving humans or animals.
d) Violating legal regulations in clinical and biomedical research.
e) Sharing information from manuscripts under review without the author's consent.
f) Misusing resources allocated for research.
g) Making baseless or malicious accusations of ethical misconduct.

Submission and Review Process
Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published or be under simultaneous review elsewhere. Manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process, evaluated by an editor and at least two reviewers. Plagiarism checks are conducted using software like iThenticate, and manuscripts with similarity rates exceeding 15% (excluding references and quotations) will not be accepted.

Author Responsibilities
Authors must guarantee the originality of their work, disclose any conflicts of interest, and ensure adherence to copyright laws. They must also declare their contribution to at least three stages of the research process (e.g., design, data collection, analysis, writing). Authors are required to promptly notify the editor of significant errors or inaccuracies discovered post-publication.

Reviewer and Editor Responsibilities
Reviewers must evaluate submissions objectively, maintaining confidentiality. Editors ensure fair and unbiased peer review and uphold the overall quality of the journal. Both reviewers and editors must avoid conflicts of interest.

Publication Policy
TURAR Tourism and Research Journal publishes biannually in April and October. Manuscripts are evaluated for scientific merit and compliance with publication standards. The editorial board reserves the right to accept or reject submissions. Published articles are copyrighted by the journal, and no publication fees are charged.

Dr. Samiha Chemli is an Associate Professor of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Coordinator of University Relations (CIDE) at the University of Deusto. She has extensive expertise in hospitality and tourism management, in leading companies, managing cross-functional teams, and providing consulting services. With over 19 years of academic and managerial experience, she has contributed significantly to teaching and program development in Tunisia, South Korea, and Spain. Her research focuses on innovative tourism practices, especially on Web 3.0 and the use of immersive learning and virtual reality in higher education. At the University of Deusto, she runs Virtual Labs, in collaboration with colleagues, across the fields of Tourism and Business. 

Dr Chemli is also assigned, since 2022, as the General Secretary of the African Region - World Rural Tourism Council China.

Małgorzata Wiścicka-Fernando, PhD (ORCID ID 0000-0001-9928-3335), is an assistant professor at the University of Szczecin, Department of Marketing. She holds a PhD in Economics. Her main research areas include Marketing, Relationship Marketing, Sustainable Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, and Communication. She is the author of numerous scientific publications and has actively participated in both national and international conferences. She is a certified tutor. As a researcher, she collaborates with several universities across Europe and Asia. In the commercial sector, she utilises the potential of augmented reality (AR) and integrates it into marketing activities in various industries. She also acts as a consultant for several marketing agencies.
