The Turkish Yearbook of International Relations (TYIR), a refereed journal published annually in December, may also publish one special issue per calendar year. The theme, publication date and guest editor of each special issue are determined and announced by the editorial board.

The studies to be published in the special issue must be uploaded to the DergiPark system. When the files are uploaded to the system, it must be indicated in the "Note to the Editor" section that the article has been submitted for the special issue. Studies submitted in response to the call for papers for the special issue must comply with TYIR’s writing rules. After the editorial review of the articles, they are subjected to a double-blind peer review process. The review takes place within the deadlines specified in the DergiPark system.
