Guidelines for Writing
Title: To properly format the title of your work, use Times New Roman font type with a font size of 14. Capitalize the first letter of each word in the title. The title should accurately reflect the text and be concise and clear.
Abstract: This section requires a summary encompassing the research's purpose, novelty, methods employed, and significant outcomes. To follow the Turkish spelling rules, the text must be written in "Times New Roman" font type, size 10, single-spaced, and arranged in a single paragraph. The ideal word count for the abstract is between 150 and 250 words.
In the English abstract, the work's title should be written in English at the beginning. For articles written in English, it is necessary to provide a Turkish title and abstract.
Keywords: To ensure an accurate description of the work, kindly provide a minimum of three and a maximum of six keywords. It is crucial to provide keywords in both Turkish and English languages.
Article Text: Generally, a research paper typically consists of several sections, such as an introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusion, references, and acknowledgments (if applicable). To comply with the formatting requirements, please use Times New Roman font type and set the font size to 11. The article should be formatted as a single column. Authors must specify the article type (Research Paper, Review Paper, Technical Note) during submission.
Introduction: The opening section of an article should provide the audience with relevant information that assists them in comprehending the topic being addressed. This section guides the readers, introducing them to the main idea and setting the tone for the rest of the work. It is crucial to ensure that the introductory segment is well-crafted, informative, and engaging to capture the readers' attention and keep them interested in the subsequent sections. A summary of previous research on the topic is crucial to provide a clear understanding. Moreover, it is essential to clearly explain the study's purpose and concisely state the objective. When creating a document or article, leave a space between the main heading, subheadings, and text. For formatting the text under the title, ensure that each paragraph begins with a 1.25 cm space. Use "Times New Roman" font type, 12-point font size, and bold for both main and subheadings. The text should be written in "Times New Roman" font type, 11-point font size, and single-spaced. Subheadings should be numbered as 1.1 (followed by 1.1.1, 1.1.2, ...), 1.2, and capitalize first and second-degree section titles such as “First Letter Capitalized”. Use lowercase for all other words (except conjunctions) to ensure consistency. For third and lower-level headings, only the first letter should be capitalized, such as “First letter capitalized”, while all other words should be lowercase.
Material and Method: Within this particular section, providing an overview of the materials and methods utilized throughout the study is of utmost importance. To make the text more precise and brief, it is recommended to include tables and figures relevant to the materials. In essence, the term "method" refers to the techniques used to achieve the research goals. If there were any novel methods implemented, it is crucial to provide a clear explanation of them in explicit detail. Methods should be summarized and referenced appropriately in situations where they have already been published. The source must be cited if a previously published method is directly quoted. Furthermore, any modifications made to existing methods must be disclosed accordingly. Using editable text instead of images is highly recommended when presenting mathematical equations. The equations themselves should be presented at a mid-level position wherever possible. If it is necessary to include equations in the text, a single-line table with hidden borders should be utilized. The equation should be placed in the left cell, which should be centered. The equation number should be placed in the right cell and right-justified to fit only the equation number. Lastly, one-line space should be left between the paragraphs before and after the equation expressions.
Results and Discussion: This section should contain the study's findings, which can be supported by figures and tables if necessary. The results must be presented clearly and understandably. Instead of repeating the results, this section should focus on exploring their significance. Additionally, it is recommended to compare the obtained results with the studies in the literature and to interpret any differences in detail. Tables should be sent as editable text, not images, with the names and text in 11-point font size. Table names should be left-aligned, with the first letter capitalized and the rest in lowercase. Tables should be numbered sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Table 2, …). To avoid redundancy, use tables sparingly and ensure the information presented does not duplicate the findings already mentioned in the research. To properly cite the source of a table or figure, add the corresponding literature number in square brackets at the end, such as [1]. When creating tables, it is crucial to provide clear explanations above them and separately rather than linking to the table. Leave 6 nk space after the table title description, and include one line between the paragraphs before and after the tables. For consistency, all figures in the text should be centered. The caption for each figure should be positioned just below it. It is essential to clearly explain each figure and avoid linking to them. Captions should be left-justified and set in 11-point font size. Leave a 6 nk space before the figure title description. A single line space should separate the paragraphs before and after each figure. Ensure that the resolution of the figure image is at least 300 dpi and that the data presented is legible. Remember to number the figures sequentially, starting with Figure 1.
Conclusions: In this particular segment, it is crucial to concisely summarize the study's key findings and recommendations.
References: To cite sources in the study, use square brackets [1] at the end of a sentence, along with the reference number. If multiple sources are needed, list them in brackets as [1, 7, 12] for non-consecutive references and [2-6] for consecutive references. Please refer to the following formats for citing sources.

Van Yuzuncu Yil University Journal of Engineering Faculty publishes original research articles in Turkish or English within the scientific category. This category of articles should contain new and innovative knowledge that suggests a novel method or adds an extra dimension to pre-existing knowledge.

Authors and referees must fulfill their ethical duties and responsibilities within this framework. During the review process, the referees' identities are kept anonymous from the authors (known as blind peer review). In double-blind peer review, the referees evaluate articles without knowing the authors' names, which is left to the author's discretion. Authors should remove the name and address lines from their paper to use this preference and upload it to the system.
The editors determine the article's acceptance or rejection. If an article is considered to be inadequate based on the recommendations of a referee, a decision will be made to either revise it significantly (major revision: requiring resubmission for evaluation) or make minor corrections (minor revision). Articles that meet the required scientific standards are accepted.
It is important that the articles submitted for publication have not been published or submitted to any other journal for publication.All articles submitted to our journal must comply with scientific ethics guidelines. Manuscripts should be prepared by internationally accepted scientific, ethical rules. It's important to send the Ethics Committee Report with the text when needed.
The articles submitted to the Van Yuzuncu Yil University Journal of Engineering Faculty undergo a plagiarism check using Turnitin or iThenticate software. Article Similarity Index (SI) should be kept at 20%, and each cited source's similarity rate should not exceed 3%. The article will be rejected if the similarity index exceeds the specified levels. If it is found that the article contains plagiarism after being published, it will be promptly taken down from the website. For a period of five years, the relevant author(s) are prohibited from submitting any articles to the Van Yuzuncu Yil University Journal of Engineering Faculty.
To submit an article for publication in the Van Yuzuncu Yil University Journal of Engineering Faculty, it is essential to follow the proper format for writing journal articles.
Every author mentioned in the article should sign the Copyright Form, affirming that they have granted the publication rights of their work to Van Yuzuncu Yil University Journal of Engineering Faculty. The authors must submit the Copyright Form for their work to be evaluated.
To submit a research article for publication in the journal, it should be formatted with the following main headings in both Turkish and English: Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.
Our journal follows the Open Source Publication Policy.
Articles that have completed the evaluation are published based on their arrival date. Once the articles are prepared for publishing, they are added to the upcoming issue. However, the whole issue is published only after all articles are completed.
During the layout process, the author(s) will receive submissions for control and correction (press proof), which must be addressed within a specified timeframe. If an author(s) fails to respond within the given time, their articles will be evaluated in the next issue.
The Van Yuzuncu Yil University Journal of Engineering Faculty is available for open access. Furthermore, the authors do not have to pay fees for publishing their articles.
Dr. Himmet Karaman received a B.E. degree in Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering from the Istanbul Technical University, Turkey, in 2001, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Geomatics Engineering from the Istanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, Turkey, in 2003 and 2008, respectively. His Ph.D. thesis was about the development of HAZTURK software on earthquake loss assessment and decision support software. He was a research scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign between 2006 – 2007 at the Mid-America Earthquake Center. In 2009, he joined the Department of Geomatics Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering at Istanbul Technical University as an Assistant Professor, and in 2015 became an Associate Professor. He is a Full Professor since 2020 in the same institute.
Since December 2015, he has been the director of the GIS Lab of the Civil Engineering Faculty. He is also serving as vice department head of the Geomatics Engineering Department a member of the Earthquake Science Supreme Board of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and a consultant to the Istanbul Urban Transformation Master Plan, Istanbul Resilience and Emergency Access Roads projects. His current research interests include resilience, disaster management, geographic information science, decision-making, and earthquake engineering. Dr. Karaman is a Fellow of the Board of Scientific Dictionary of the Turkish Academy of Science and a member of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority’s Earthquake Advisory Board since 2009. He has fifteen sci articles published in respected journals with a 10 h index. He has completed 5 projects as a consultant, 4 projects as a principal investigator, and 12 projects as a researcher within the scope of disaster management. He is currently advising 21 graduate students working on disaster management and resilience subjects and completed 3 Ph.D. and 11 M.Sc. thesis.
Ahmed MOHAMMED received the B.Sc. degree in Software Engineering from Technical College Kirkuk, Iraq, in 2003, and the M.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from Cankaya University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2015, and received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from National School of Electronics and Telecommunications of Sfax, University of Sfax, Tunis, in 2025. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Computer Engineering at the University of Kirkuk, Iraq. His research interests include Machine Learning Algorithms, Intrusion Detection System, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Information Security, Data and Information Privacy, Data Mining, and Deep Learning.
Dr. Özaslan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Ankara, TURKEY.
Dr. Özaslan received dual B.S. degrees in mechanical engineering and computer science from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2008. Dr. Özaslan is first in METU history to receive a dual degree in these two departments. He then moved to Bilkent University for graduate studies. He obtained a M.Sc. degree in computer science in 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Uluç Saranlı. He received his Ph.D. degree at University of Pennsylvania, GRASP Laboratories under the the supervision of Prof. Vijay Kumar and Prof. Camillo J. Taylor. In his thesis Dr. Özaslan focuses on state estimation, mapping and autonomous navigation of micro unmanned aerial vehicles. Upon completion of his Ph.D. degree, he worked at Motional, Boston as a research scientist for 2 years on high definition map building for autonomous driving vehicles.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Uysal was born in 1988 in Ankara. After completing her primary, secondary and high school education at TED Ankara College, she received her Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees from Gazi University in 2009, 2011 and 2016, respectively. She completed her post-doctoral studies at the University of Rostock, Germany in 2018. Currently, she works as a member of at Gazi University, Department of Chemical Engineering.
She worked as the assistant director at Gazi University Clean Energy Research and Application Center between 2020-2023. Since April 2022, she has been a board member of the Turkish Society of Thermal Sciences and Technology.
She has researches and publications on Carbon Dioxide Emission Prevention, Transport phenomena, Fluidized Beds, Gasification, Clean and Renewable Energy, Alternative Hydrogen Sources. She also has Turkish published books titled "Applied Exergy Analysis for Processes" and "Fluidized Beds", co-authored with Prof. Dr. Bekir Zühtü Uysal.
İstanbul Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesi Maden Mühendisliği Bölümü'nden mezun oldu. İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Maden Mühendisliği Bölümü Cevher Hazırlama Anabilimdalı'nda yüksek lisans eğitimini tamamladı. 2011 yılından beri Araştırma Görevlisi olarak görev yaptığı Dicle Üniversitesi'nde Maden Mühendisliği Anabilimdalı'nda doktorasını tamamladı. Doktora sırasında Politecnico di Torino'da 5 ay süreyle tez öğrencisi olarak bulundu. Tubitak 2219 Doktora Sonrası Araştırma Bursu kapsamında 1 yıl süreyle Sapienza di Roma'da misafir araştırmacı olarak görev yaptı.
He was born in Bayburt in 1990. He completed his primary and secondary education in Bayburt. After graduating from Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2012, he started his master's degree at the same university in 2012 for an academic career. He completed his master's degree in 2015 and his doctorate in 2021 and returned to Dicle University, where he was appointed in 2015. He currently works as a faculty member in the Department of Construction and Manufacturing at this university.

Araştırma ilgi alanları arasında dağıtık üretim, yenilenebilir enerji sistemlerinin entegrasyonu, güç kalitesi, mikro şebekeler ve elektrikli araçlar bulunmaktadır.
Lisansını Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı bölümünde, Yüksek Lisansını Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi-Bingöl Üniversitesi ortak programında tamamladı. Doktora tezini Atatürk Üniversitesi Amerikan Edebiyatı alanında, Modern dönemin gazeteci edebiyatçıları üzerine hazırladı. Yoğunlukla Amerikan Edebiyatı alanında Amerikan Romanı üzerinde çalışmalar yapmaktadır. Ayrıca, Anadolu Üniversitesi Medya ve İletişim, Van YYÜ Turist Rehberliği ve Van YYÜ Radyo ve Televizyon Programcılığı önlisans bölümleri mezunudur.
İshak Parlar, I graduated from Gazi University (Ankara, Turkey) Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department in 2012. After working in the telecommunication field for many years, I entered academia. I completed master degree and doctorate (PhD) education at Yüzüncü Yıl University. I am also a Research Assistant in the Department of Electrical and Electronics. I continue to work in areas such as analog electronics, digital electronics, memristor simulation, emulator design, oscillator design, op-amp design, matlab/Simulink applications, pSPICE, orCAD, Multisim circuit applications, filter applications, algorithm and optimization, video and audio encryption, PID, Sliding Mode Control and ECG, EEG and EMG signal processing applications, Arduino and FPGA applications.
