Expression of Glut-1 in benign, borderline and malignnat tumors of the ovary, its relationship with prognostic parameters

Abstract

Objective: Aberrant expression of Glut 1 in epithelial malignancies and its relationship with neoplatic progression is well known. Glut 1 exists on the cell surface. In this retrospective study we evaluated the Glut 1 expression, in benign,borderline malign serous and mucinous ovarian tumours, as a prognostic parameter. Materials and Methods: We studied totally 92 cases; consisted of 38 malign(34 serous and 4 mucinous),15 borderline (9 borderline serous and 6 borderline mucinous), 34 benign(19 benign serous cystadenoma and 15 benign mucinous cystadenoma) and 5 cases diagnosed as endosalpingiosis of ovary. Sections from paraffin blocks of the cases had been immunohistochemically stained with Glut 1-Ab-l (Rabbit PAB RB-078-A Neomarkers) antibody. Results: The benign and endosalpingiosis group showed non-staining with the antibody however %86,7 of borderlines and %97,4 of malign ones revealed positive membranous staining (p

Overin bening, ''borderline'' ve malign epitelyal tümörlerinde Glut-1 ekspresyonu ve prognostik parametrelerle ilişkisi

Abstract

Amaç: Hücre yüzeyinde yer alan Glut I 'in epitelyal malignitelerde aberan ekspresyonu ve neoplastik progresyonla ilişkisi bilinmektedir. Bu retrospektif çalışmada; benign, borderline, malign s er öz ve müsinöz over tümörlerindeki Glut 1 ekspresyonu, borderline ve malign tümörlerde prognostik parametre olarak anlamlılığı araştırılmıştır. Materyal ve Metod: 38'i malign(34'ü seröz karsinom, 4'ü müsinöz karsinom), 15'i borderline(9'u borderline seröz tümör, 6[sı borderline müsinöz tümör), 34'ü benign(19'u benign serözkist veya benign seröz kistadenom,15'i benign müsinöz kistadenom) over tümörü ve 5 'i överde endosalpingiozis tanısı almış olan toplam 92 olgunun parafin bloklarından elde edilen kesitlere Glutl-Ab-1 (Rabbit PAB RB-078-A Neomarkers) antikoru ile immünohistokimyasal boyama prosedürü uygulandı. Bulgular: Glut-1 ile benign olgularda ve endosalpingiozis olgularında hiç boyanma olmazken borderline olguların %86,7'sinde malign olguların ise %97,4'ünde pozitif membranöz boyanma saptanmıştır (p
