Published by the Department of Sociology at Ege University since 1987, The Journal of Sociology has been a “Refereed Journal” in accordance with the rules of ASA since its 7th issue published in 1999. The Journal of Sociology is published twice a year in May and November. The Journal of Sociology aims to include theoretical and applied studies in sociology from both all over the world and Turkey, and to introduce these studies to the related audience. Emphasizing the strong tie between sociology and other disciplines within social sciences, The Journal of Sociology underlines the importance of an interdisciplinary perspective, and determines its publication policy accordingly. The Journal of Sociology includes studies which are conducted within the field of sociology and social sciences. It is taken into consideration that these studies would contribute to sociology both in theoretical and applied contexts, and provide a new perspective regarding the contents. In addition, translations of sociological texts reflecting the worldwide accumulation in the field may be accepted for publication. Articles, which are necessarily within social sciences, may be written in Turkish or English.
Manuscripts of original research, discussion-review, book presentation, book review and thesis presentation in the field of social sciences may be submitted. Papers submitted for publication are subjected to a double-blind peer review system. On the condition that the two reviewers disagree, the editor may make the final decision either to accept or reject the paper or to send the paper to a third reviewer. Only the original research and discussion-review papers are peer-reviewed, and other types of articles (e.g. translation, book presentation, book presentation and book review) are not.
Articles may be written in Turkish and English. If the articles contain visual materials such as photos, tables, graphs and maps, these must be attached as separate files to the application post.
Authors can send their manuscripts to the journal address by e-mail or apply through DERGİPARK.
Texts which are not prepared in accordance with orthographical rules will not be considered in the review process. Submissions are firstly examined in terms of form and content; only the articles that are approved after preliminary assessment of the Editorial Board will be sent to reviewers. Authors are informed of the decision and are asked to make the required changes and corrections, if any. After they are informed by e-mail, authors should send the final version of their articles to the journal within ten days at the latest. The Editorial Board evaluates the submitted work for the last time and takes the final decision. Submissions that are not accepted for publication will not be returned to authors. The copyright of published works belongs to the journal. Authors should take responsibility for submitted and published work. The Editorial Board accepts no responsibility in this regard.
Articles submitted to the Journal of Sociology must be in accordance with research and publication ethics. They should neither have previously been published in another journal nor have been under consideration for publication elsewhere. The editorial, reviewing and publishing processes are carried out by being adhered to the international standards for research and publication ethics developed by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).
