Changing world and developing events results in putting online teaching on one of the most important topics on our agenda. The effectiveness of online teaching is related to the realization of some basic elements, the main performers of which are teachers. The transition to online education is also a new learning process for teachers. Therefore, the question of this research is "What kind of metaphors do teachers produce to describe online mathematics teaching?”. The design of the research is phenomenology. Metaphor analysis was used in the analysis of the data. 43 teachers participated in this research. Participants reflected their ideas about online mathematics education using metaphors. 27 different metaphors and 23 different reasons were created from the thoughts of the participants, the most used metaphor was "food", the two most used explanations were "need to progress in a certain program" and "lack of interaction/communication in the process". As a result of the research, it was determined that teachers mostly thought negatively about online education.
