Yükseköğretimde Yapay Zeka Destekli Çeviri Araçları Çevirmen Eğitimini Nasıl Etkiliyor? Eğitmenler Ne Düşünüyor?

Öz

Mütercim ve Tercümanlık bölümlerinde teknolojinin akademiye entegrasyonu, özellikle işgücü piyasasının çeşitli çeviri araçlarına hakimiyet gereksinimlerine yanıt olarak vazgeçilmez hale gelmiştir. Ancak, çevirmenlerin eğitiminde yapay zekâ destekli araçların ortaya çıkışı, eğitmenlerin bakış açısından oldukça olumsuz bir gelişme olarak görünebilir. Bununla birlikte, bu araçlar aynı zamanda çok sayıda potansiyel fayda da sağlayabilir. Bu gerçeğe paralel olarak, bu çalışma, yükseköğretimde gelecekteki çevirmenlerin eğitiminde yapay zekâ destekli çeviri araçlarının algılanışını incelemek, çeviri araçlarının eğitim ve öğrenim, değerlendirme süreçlerine etkisine ve çevirmen eğitiminde yapay zekâ araçlarının geleceğine odaklanmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaçla, farklı yaş ve deneyim düzeylerine sahip 15 eğitmen arasında bir anket yapılmıştır. Bu eğitmenler şu anda Türkiye’deki çeşitli yükseköğretim kurumlarının Mütercim ve Tercümanlık Bölümlerinde öğretim görevlisi olarak çalışmaktadırlar. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan fenomenoloji yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi tekniği kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Sonuçlar, Mütercim ve Tercümanlık Bölümü'nde çeşitli dersler veren katılımcıların, çeviri araçlarının öğretim sürecindeki rolünü güvenilirlik, teknolojik beceriler ve değerlendirme sürecindeki engeller kavramlarıyla ilişkilendirerek değerlendirdiklerini göstermiştir. Eğitmenlerin çoğu, çeviri araçlarının eğitime entegre edilmesinin öğrencilerin çeviri pazarındaki en son gelişmelerden haberdar olmalarını sağladığını belirtmiştir.

How do AI-aided Translation Tools Impact Translator Training in Higher Education? What do Instructors Think?

Öz

The integration of technology into translation and interpreting training programs in academia has become indispensable, especially in response to the labor market’s demand for proficiency with a variety of translation tools. However, from the instructors’ perspective, the AI-aided tools may bring benefits but also may harm translator training. This study aims to examine the perception of AI-aided translation tools in the teaching of translators in higher education, focusing on the roles of translation tools in teaching and learning, the assessment process, and the future of AI tools in translator education. A survey was conducted among 15 instructors of varying ages and experience levels to gather qualitative data. The phenomenology method is used in the study. The data is analyzed using the content analysis technique. The majority of educators stated that integrating translation tools into training enables students to stay up to date with the latest developments in the translation market.
