Students’ Opinions on the Use of Educational Computer Games in Science Education
Öz
The study examines students’ opinions on using educational computer games in science education. For this purpose, a case study method, one of the qualitative research approaches, was preferred. The research was conducted with 50 sixth-grade students. Semi-structured interviews developed by the researchers were used as a data-collection tool to determine students’ opinions on the use of educational computer games in science education. In the data analysis, content analysis was performed with the NVivo-9 package program. As a result of the study, it was found that the students considered educational computer games both entertaining and instructive; most students expressed a desire to incorporate educational computer games into the lesson process. They expected teachers to use games in science education, and they had positive attitudes depending on their perceived benefits. Suggestions were presented within the scope of disseminating and producing educational computer games with educational content and proper use of educational computer games across the country.
