TikTok Platformunda Dijital Gazetecilik Pratikleri

Öz

Medya endüstrisi, dijitalleşme ve sosyal medyanın etkisiyle, gazetecilik pratiklerini ağ bağlantılı yapıya evrilmeye teşvik eden bir süreçten geçmektedir. Sosyal medya platformlarının popüler hale geldiği bir medya endüstrisinde, özellikle genç izleyici kitlesine sahip olan TikTok, haber medyasının ilgisini çekmektedir. Çalışmada Türkiye ve ABD’de faaliyet gösteren medya kuruluşlarının TikTok platformunu bir haber mecrası olarak kullanma düzeyleri analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında, 2023 yılının son dönemine ilişkin gelişmeleri irdelemek için 1 Ekim - 31 Aralık 2023 tarihleri arasında Türkiye merkezli Hürriyet, Milliyet, Sabah ve ABD merkezli Yahoo News, The New York Times, CNN, Fox News olmak üzere toplam yedi haber kuruluşunun paylaştığı 2057 haber içerik videosu MAXQDA analiz programında analiz edilmiştir. Bu çalışma TikTok platformunda ABD ve Türkiye’de farklı mecralarda faaliyet gösteren haber kuruluşlarının yayınladığı haberlerin paylaşım sıklığı, etkileşim düzeyleri, haber kategorileri ve formatlarına ilişkin karşılaştırmalı bir değerlendirme sunması nedeniyle önem taşımaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda, TikTok’da gazetelerin, diğer mecralara kıyasla daha yüksek dolaşım düzeyine ulaştığı, magazin içerikli haberlerin daha fazla paylaşıldığı, haber formatı ve çeşitliliği açısından Türk ve ABD merkezli haber kuruluşlarının en yüksek düzeyde muhabir/sunucu anlatımı, haber video görüntüsü, yorum/açıklama ve eğlenceli/mizahi içerikler tercih ettiği saptanmıştır.

Digital Journalism Practices on the TikTok Platform

The media industry is undergoing a process that encourages journalistic practices to evolve into a networked structure under the impact of digitization and social media.In a media industry where social media platforms have become popular, TikTok, which has a particularly young audience, attracts the attention of the news media. The study analyzed the extent to which media organizations operating in Turkey and the United States use the TikTok platform as a medium for news. Within the scope of the study, in order to examine the developments regarding the last period of 2023, 2057 news content videos shared by a total of seven news organizations, namely Turkey-based Hürriyet, Milliyet, Sabah and US-based Yahoo News, The New York Times, CNN, Fox News, between October 1 and December 31, 2023, were analyzed in the MAXQDA analysis program. The study is important in terms of providing a comparative evaluation of the sharing frequencies, interaction levels, news categories and formats of the news published by news organizations operating in different media in the USA and Turkey on the TikTok platform. As a result of the study, it was found that newspapers on the TikTok reached a higher circulation level compared to other channels, news with magazine content was shared more and in terms of news format and diversity, both Turkish and US-based news organizations preferred reporter/presenter narration, news video footage, commentary/explanation, and entertaining/humorous content at the highest level.
