Teacher Training In Special Education Course And Teacher Experiences In Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) Pandemic Process
Abstract
The applied courses conducted face-to-face with the application coordinator, teacher candidate, school administration in the schools have been conducted as distance education since March 16, 2020, due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) global pandemic process which started in the December of 2019 and has affected the whole world. This study aims to investigate the opinions of the practice teachers who give Teaching Practice in Special Education courses in the special education schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education about the process and the practices during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic process. The study, designed in the qualitative method with a descriptive design, is based on the experiences of the special education practice teachers in the pandemic process. Interviews were conducted with 9 special education teachers. Realized one-on-one by phone and online. The data were examined in detail with content analysis method using NVivo program. The opinions of the participants, described under four main themes that are "'Faculty-School Cooperation", "Follow-up and Evaluation of Practice Skills", "Professional Competencies, and Expectations" and "Problems and Solution Suggestions". In distance education, planning the online practices the professional education and experiences and conducting can be suggested.
