Dr. Civelek has published around 70 scientific articles in national/international journals. He worked as a researcher or director in many projects. 6 doctoral and 23 master's degree studies were completed under his supervision. In the academic context, he made long or short-term visits to different universities in Finland, Poland, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia and Spain. He has books/book chapters in his professional field, and field of poetry.
The first professional trainings/workshops in veterinary field in Türkiye on blood gas analysis and clinical interpretation, abdominal ultrasonography in cats and dogs, basic endoscopy and oesophagogastroduedonoscopy in cats and dogs, veterinary gastroenterology, clinical practical echocardiography in cats and dogs and uronephrology in cats and dogs were also held by Civelek.
Prof. Dr. Turan Civelek during his career; dean of the faculty of vet. med., head of department of veterinary internal medicine, head of clinical sciences of the faculty, member of faculty board and faculty board of directors, director of college (State Conservatory), advisor to the rector, senate and university board of directors, membership and chairmanship in different commissions and boards, member of the executive board of the Council of Deans of Veterinary Faculties in Türkiye, university union representative (AKU), chairmanship of the supervisory board of the provincial branch of the education union of Afyonkarahisar, chairmanship of the association (vet gastroent.), membership /board membership in the branches and boards of some foundations and associations, and YOK veterinary medicine speciality board alternate member. He took part in the establishment of two scientific national vocational associations.
Civelek has also authored some important first and/or scientific/professional valuable works in his field of expertise. Examples of these are; R.S.’s activity on CaOx urinary stones, a case of cardiac hypertrophy in a dog similar to the syndrome known as athlete's heart in medicine, a case of aortic fibroelastoma diagnosed in a cat, an endoscopic intervention in a dolphin and publications on bilious vomiting syndrome diagnosed gastroscopically in a dog, also his metabolic studies on apolipoprotein b100 in dairy cattle, his studies on paratuberculosis and a scientific article he co-authored on the effect of borax on lipid profile. Prof. Dr Turan Civelek is also a founderer of FORPET food and pharmaceutical industry in Türkiye.
