Due to the civil war that started in Syria in 2011, large numbers of Syrian citizens, a significant number of whom are school-age children, migrated to Türkiye en masse. Faced with one of the largest migration movements in history, the state of the Republic of Türkiye has been trying to cope with the economic and social problems brought about by migration as well as the educational problems of Syrian migrant children since 2011. Similarly, migrant children who migrated to Türkiye with their families or were born in Türkiye may also face various adaptation problems. Considering that some of these children have special needs, it is possible to say that both Turkish educators who teach them and Syrian children with special needs are trying to cope with a very complex and challenging situation. This review study, which aims to reveal the current situation regarding the education of Syrian migrant children in Türkiye, also clarifies terms related to migration that may be misunderstood and misused. It also offers suggestions to practitioners and researchers on what needs to be done to facilitate the adaptation of all migrant children with and without special needs to educational environments.
