Özel Gereksinimi Olan Öğrencilerin Okul Dönemi Geçişleri: Yaşanan Zorluklar ve Çözüm Önerileri

Öz

Her birey yaşamı boyunca geçiş olarak adlandırılan farklı değişimler yaşamaktadır. Okul dönemi geçişler de bu geçişlerin bir parçasıdır ve özel gereksinimi olan bireylerde bu geçişlerin başarılı bir şekilde gerçekleşmesi daha özel bir çaba, destek, planlama ve düzenlemeye bağlıdır. Bireyin geçişi gerçekleştirdiği yeni ortamında göstereceği akademik ve sosyal başarı kendi akademik, sosyal, duygusal, davranışsal ve bilişsel yeterlilikleriyle bağlantılı olsa da bulunduğu ortamda alacağı destek ve geçişlerin kolaylaştırılması bu başarıyı büyük oranda etkileyecektir. Gerekli desteğin sağlanmadığı ve sürecin dikkatli planlanmadığı durumlarda hem çocuk hem aile süreci daha sancılı yaşamakla birlikte çocuğun gelişimindeki kazanç da en az düzeyde olmaktadır. Bu derleme çalışmasında, özel gereksinimi olan öğrencilerin okul dönemi geçiş sürecine yönelik bilgi vermek, geçiş sürecinde karşılaşılan zorluklar ele alınarak bu zorluklara yönelik çözüm önerileri sunmak amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca, öğretmen ve yöneticilere yönelik sunulan önerilerle geçiş hizmetlerinin ve uygulamalarının geliştirilmesi ve sürecin aile ve öğrenci açısından yumuşatılabilmesi için önemli noktalar vurgulanmıştır.
