Journal of Balkan and Black Sea Studies (ISSN 2667-470X) is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary academic journal dedicated to the study of the humanities and social sciences of the Balkan region and the former Soviet republics. The journal publishes original research articles that contribute to scholarly debates in history, economics, political science, international relations, cultural studies, art history, geography, literature, theology, ethnography, and environmental studies.
The journal aims to advance cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary scholarship on issues of regional and transregional significance. It provides an international academic forum for research addressing both historical and contemporary developments in the Balkan and Black Sea regions. Particular emphasis is placed on comparative, conceptual, and methodological approaches that enhance understanding of regional societies, political systems, historical trajectories, literary traditions, and cultural dynamics. Submissions that situate the region within broader global, digital, or technological contexts are especially encouraged.
Published online biannually since 2018, the journal also publishes themed special issues. All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Manuscripts should not exceed 8,000 words and are subject to a double-blind peer-review process conducted by at least two independent reviewers. The journal adheres to internationally recognized standards of academic ethics and publication integrity. The inclusion of color figures and images is permitted, subject to reasonable limitations. Authors are responsible for securing all necessary copyright permissions.
The journal accepts submissions in English and Turkish; manuscripts in other languages may be considered on an exceptional basis. All submissions must include an English abstract of 100–200 words.

Journal of Balkan and Black Sea Studies is a peer reviewed journal and all submissions are evaluated through a double-review process. The journal started in 2018 and the first issue was published in December 2018. Two issues per year are published (June and December). The deadline for submissions for each issue is at least two month before the date of publication. The journal is an open access journal.
