Bio

Dr. Ismail Çiçek was graduated from the Marine Engineering Dept of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 1990. He received his Master of Science diploma in 1995 and Ph.D. in 1999 from the Mechanical Engineering Dept at Texas Tech University. His Ph.D. topic was the “Investigation of a 2 d.o.f Flexible Structure under Random Excitation.” Dr Cicek has a vast experience in both academia and industry. He served at ITU Marine Engineering Dept between 1999 and 2003 as Assistant Professor and Vice Chair of the Department. He was involved in the development of many national and international programs, including the establishment of the Simulator Center and the International Dual-Diploma Program between the State University of New York and ITU Maritime Faculty. Dr. Cicek has fifteen years of leadership experience in the United Stated Air Force projects and programs as both contractor and civil service employee. Dr. Cicek led the development of various engineering systems for platforms including C-5, C-17, KC-10, KC-135, and C-130 E/H/J. Dr. Cicek’s experience includes unmanned aerial vehicle development where he utilized the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Malfunction Data Recorder Analysis Recorder System (MADARS) development. He received many critical awards at the positions he served, due to the excellent team-work and his detail oriented and energetic personality. These include Terra Health’s Superior Client Award in 2009 and Engineering Excellence Award in 2010 as well as an appreciation letter from the USAF Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), signed by the commander in charge. Dr. Cicek lectured Integrated Product Verification & Validation course at Raytheon in 2009, as part of the Ph.D. program between Texas Tech University and Raytheon. Dr. Cicek has many scientific and engineering publications and academic activities in the international conferences. He is an active member of various professional organizations. He has applied experience of using international civilian and military standards. He authored the Joint Enroute Care Equipment Test Standard (JECETS), which is the first standard published in the airworthiness or safe-to-fly testing of medical equipment and devices used in joint platforms. Dr Cicek is currently teaching at Istanbul Technical University Maritime Faculty, Tuzla, Istanbul. He also lectured at Turkish Naval Academy, Tuzla, Istanbul. He involved with doing research in simulation and modeling of engineering systems, autonomous systems, test and evaluation and propulsion systems. Dr Cicek is also providing consultancy to the companies; some of those are for TULOMSAS, Turkish Technique, CTECH, and International Maritime Satellite Organisation (IMSO). He helps companies with innovation, research, product and system development. He is providing hands on short training courses (Test & Evaluation) per the MIL-STD-810 and RTCA-DO-160 standards. Dr. Cicek is dual citizen (US and Turkey) and was born in Turkey in 1969. He is married with three kids.
