Bio

I am an independent researcher, based in Leuven, currently engaged in the fields of feminist animal studies, art-based research, and more-than-human sociology. I hold a PhD in Sociology from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (Turkey), where I served as a research assistant between 2010 and 2017.

In 2017, I was honored to receive the Şirin Tekeli Research Award, granted by Sabancı University Gender and Women's Studies Center for Excellence (SU Gender) to support my dissertation research project.

Titled “Meadow and Hut: Interspecies Gendered Encounters in the Geography of High Pastures” (2023), my dissertation explores the relationships between farm animals (particularly cows) and women farmers in the high pastures of Turkey's Black Sea Region. This study involves participant observations, interviews, ethnographic photographs, and a feminist multispecies ethnography.
