The Akif journal aims to contribute to science by publishing high-quality publications of scientific importance. For this purpose, it publishes original research articles, translated articles, reviews, book reviews, case reports, and letters to the editor in all fields related to religious studies and Islamic studies in social sciences.
Akif is an independent, double-blind peer-reviewed, open access, and online journal that aims to publish articles in all related religious studies and theology. Articles should contain original data that has not been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts that are deemed suitable for Akif journal submission rules and the scope of the journal are sent to at least two referees who are experts in their fields for scientific evaluation. The members of the Editorial Board of Akif journal consider the referees' comments on each submission. The final decision for all submitted manuscripts belongs to the Editor-in-Chief. The Editorial Board of Akif journal is committed to comply with the criteria of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- Manuscripts to be submitted to Akif journal should be prepared using a citation/reference management program (Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley or Citavi).
- It is mandatory to use the "Article Template" in the manuscripts to be submitted to our journal. In addition to the author's name and institutional information, no information that would reveal the identity of the author should be entered into the article template file.
In addition to the "Article Template", authors should fill in the "Title Page" and upload it to the system together with the "Copyright Notice Form". - All information such as author's name-surname, title, institution, e-mail, orcid number, where wet signature is required, etc. should be filled in completely in the relevant files.
- Turkish and English titles of the articles and Arabic and Turkish titles for Arabic articles should be included.
- The text of the article (including references and footnotes) should not exceed 9000 words.
- Book reviews should not exceed 5000 words.
- The main texts should be typed in Microsoft Word program with Cambria font, 12 pt, single line spacing and justified. Page margins should be arranged as top 2.5 cm, right 2 cm, left 2 cm and bottom 2 cm. Footnotes should be typed in Cambria font, 10 pt, single-spaced and justified.
- The text should have "Introduction" and "Conclusion" sections. The headings following the introduction should be numbered as "1. , 2. , 3. ," and the second degree headings should be numbered as "1. 1. , 1. 2. , 1. 3. " and the numbering should continue in the same way in the following degrees. Title numbers should not be entered automatically, they should be entered manually.
- A bibliography must be given at the end of the articles. At the end of Arabic articles, in addition to the Arabic bibliography, a bibliography in Turkish letters should also be given at the end of the articles.
- Turkish articles should include a 150-200 words Turkish Abstract and English Abstract, and Arabic articles should include a 150-200 words Turkish, English and Arabic Abstract.
- Five (5) keywords describing the subject should be given in Turkish and English; in Arabic articles, they should be given in Turkish, English and Arabic.
- The original title and bibliographic information of a translated article should be indicated in the footnotes field by means of a symbol (*) to be added to the end of the title in the Turkish text.
- In terms of spelling and punctuation, the Turkish Language Association's Spelling Guide should be taken as a basis, except in special cases required by the article or the subject matter. The spelling of capped and transcribed words should be consistent.
- If the date of death is given in the text, it should be (d. 425/1033).
- According to the Editorial Board decision, the author must have at least the title of Dr. in the ‘Book Review’ papers to be evaluated starting from 2025.

Akif uses the current version of The Isnad Citation Style.
Akif is committed to practicing the highest standards of publication ethics and adhering to the following principles of publication ethics. These principles are based on the recommendations and guidelines developed for journal editors by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and Council of Science Editors (CSE).
All stakeholders are expected to bear ethical responsibilities within the scope of Akis's publication ethics. In this context, Akif is committed to following the “Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” and “Core Practices” prepared by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). It is the duty of the Editors to follow the COPE Guidance for Editors, while the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers must be followed by the journal reviewers.
The publication processes implemented at Akif are the basis for the impartial and reputable development and dissemination of knowledge. The processes implemented in this direction are directly reflected in the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions supporting the authors. Peer-reviewed studies are studies that embody and support the scientific method. At this point, it is essential that all stakeholders of the process (authors, readers and researchers, publishers, referees and editors) comply with standards for ethical principles.

4. Editors ensure that human rights are protected in the studies evaluated. Editors are responsible for rejecting the study when there is no approval of the ethics committee on the subjects used in the study and no permission for experimental research. In studies requiring ethics committee approval, information about the permission (name of the committee, date and number) should be included in the method section and on the article's first/last page. In case reports, information on the signature of the informed consent form should be included in the article.

3. PLAGIARISM POLICY
As of 01.01.2020, AKIF has started to check the studies submitted for publication through plagiarism program (iThenticate). Assistant editors upload the full article file to the Ithenticate system and get the similarity report. Studies with a similarity rate (excluding bibliography) above 15% will not be evaluated and will be returned to the author. If a work published in the journal is found to be plagiarized, the Editorial Board reserves the right to take various actions, including withdrawing the article, reporting the matter to the head of the department, dean and/or relevant institutions at the institution where the author works.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE
Editors are responsible for the publication of each article published in the journal in accordance with the journal's editorial policies and international standards.
5. PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA
The editors ensure the protection of personal data related to the subjects or images included in the work under review. Persons who contribute to the journal (editors; authors and referees) are provided with documents showing their contributions upon request.
6. PRECAUTIONS AGAINST POSSIBLE ABUSE AND MISCONDUCT
Editors take precautions against possible misconduct and abusive behavior. In addition to conducting a rigorous and objective investigation to identify and evaluate complaints, editors are responsible for sharing their findings with the competent authorities.
7. ENSURING ACADEMIC PUBLICATION INTEGRITY
The editors shall ensure that decisions involving errors, inconsistencies or misleading decisions that appear in the works are promptly corrected.
8. PROTECTION OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
The editors are obliged to protect the intellectual property rights of all published articles, to defend the journal and author rights in case of possible violations, and to take the necessary measures to ensure that the content of all published articles does not violate the intellectual property rights of other publications.
9. CONSTRUCTIVISM AND OPENNESS TO DISCUSSION
The editors take into account the criticisms against the works published in the journal and show a constructive attitude towards these criticisms in line with the purpose and scope of the journal. Authors of the criticized work have the right to reply. Studies containing negative results are rejected.
10. COMPLAINTS
The editors are obliged to review complaints carefully and respond to authors, reviewers or readers in an informative and explanatory manner.
11. POLITICAL AND COMMERCIAL CONCERNS
The journal's owner, publisher and no other political or commercial factors can influence the independent judgment of the editors.
